Well, to be honest, I never read hardly any of AHZs posts. But, based on what I have read, he's in a league by himself. I wouldn't lump BAC in with him.
Of course, I agree that unsubstantiated conspiracy theories are of little value. I don't need conspiracy theories to convince me of the evilness of the Cheney agenda. The truth is bad enough.
Well, I wouldn't say that Gore would have been killed, as if there was already a plan in place. But, as I said, I wouldn't want my heartbeat in betwee Joe Lieberman and the Presidency. You know, these people will kill and maim thousands of US troops without a problem. So, what all of a sudden, the death of one man is going to give them an attack of conscience? I don't know if Gore would have been killed. Probably not. But I woudln't bet MY life on it.
However, I wish we had a Gore presidency, because I still say, we would not have Iraq, one way or the other. Whether it be because 9/11 doesnt' happen with Gore as President ( I personally very much believe this), or because even if it does happen, there are all of those other things that you listed before that would have to happen as well, in order for us to end up in Iraq, and I agree with you about that.

Of course anything is possible. It's possible that Elvis Pressly faked his death, and is currently living in Paris. It's possible that Gore could be assassinated.
But, I just can't follow BAC out on those tangents. There's enough real malfesance, corruption, and war mongering to last a life time fighting against.
When and if evidence of assasination plots against Gore are uncovered, I'll be the first to say we should find and prosecute every M*therf*cker involved.

I don't think we could really have an effective government that way, but do think its fair to not have people have to pay for undeclared wars. We have a social contract and obligation to fulfill for social security and medicare. People have been making payments for the life of their careers into the system and our government has promised an annuity/insurance payments obligations in returnfor their payments. As tax paying citizen you sign up to fullfill that obligation. I most certainly am not proposing a libertarian approach.
I'm only suggesting it for undeclared offensive wars.

If we're going to embark into the realm of speculation, I have this to offer: I seriously doubt that assasinating Gore would be the method of choice for PNAC to start a war. For one thing, its far too risky. The POTUS is heavily guarded, and conpiracies by their very nature tend to get exposed, over time at a minimum. Secondly, the odds of success are pretty small. I'm quite sure hitler or tojo would have loved to have one of their agents in the United States bump off FDR. But, the liklehood of success was minimal.
This isn't rocket science: there's much easier ways to manipulate a country into war, than bumping off the president. Hello? Tonkin Gulf anyone? USS Maine anyone? Just manufacture an international event, to provoke the united states.
Absolutely, that's all very true, and it's the main reason why I doubt that Gore would have been killed. I guess I just don't think it's as ludicrous as AHZ's conspiracy theories. I guess I am somewhere between you and BAC on these things, but in the end, regardless of whatever validity I find in his argumements, and some of them are very compelling arguments to me, I end up in the same place I have been in. I want a Democrat in office in 08, and I would prefer that Democrat to be Gore.

There's a story out today on CNN wherein Gore says that he's no longer interested in politics (I'm paraphrasing but it appeared that he was saying he's disenchanted with politics), and that he feels the rest of his life would be better spent getting his environmental message out to Americans.

No, I can see them, if they are from this board. But the 2 that SF got from someplace else, did not show up at work. But now at home, I can see them. So he must have got them from a site that my company restricts, though I have no idea how that would stop me from seeing them on this board at work. It's weird.
Yes, he said that in the Today interview which I just finished watching over at the MSNBC site. He said he "fell out of love with politics".
Maybe it's true. Or maybe he is taking a page out of our Founder's books. They believed that to actually show an interest in running for President was tacky. They all basically had to be dragged kicking and screaming into the oval office. You know, a big show.
