Woke Disney does it again

They're meant to change/replace the classics....but you're right...they don't...;) And they're not new...or they'd have a new name...

If they were meant to replace the “Classics”, wouldn’t they stop selling the old ones? You’re not claiming those aren’t available anymore are you?

True, and I wish they didn’t do that, but it is their right, no?

They are embarrassed by the racism in Song of the South, I would be also, but to me that’s no reason to erase it.

There was racism in the North, too.

Erasing history is what the Taliban does.

The classical tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves has noSet photos from Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" revealed that the entertainment company has prioritized diversity in casting its characters.

New live-action 'Snow White' dumps seven dwarves for seven multi-racial, mixed-gender 'magical creatures'

It makes one wonder why Disney now hates white people.

Here, let me help you over to the swooning couch. Here's the smelling salts and your cell phone. I've already entered DeSatan's personal number for you. :rofl2:

Does a cover change the lyrics or the melody??

Lyrics? Probably not. Usually, I am not very concerned about lyrics.
Melody? Most certainly. Music is interpretive that way, isn’t it?

Perhaps you should try to open your mind on these remakes. Either that, or just don’t fucking watch them.

A cover band/version is to celebrate the original music...
Not change it so that it's barely recognizable....

Often times originals are changed to show a different view of a new artist. I think it’s beautiful.

The stock represents a company. Disney is profitable. The last time they didn't have a profit was in the 4th quarter of 2020.

Since Tinkerpeach owns the stock, I would think she knows what she has lost, Pobre.

"I've been buying their stock for a very long time and it's always been consistent but my profits have been cut in half over the last 4 years roughly."

I agree with you about a erasing history but I also understand why Disney is embarrassed that they once celebrated racism, and as it’s not part of the government, I believe it is the right to make their own decisions.

Do you think the new little mermaid is barely recognizable? Is the old one no longer available?
The Little Mermaid is still available. The "new" one is not a favorite. We enjoy the classics...
You mention you like "covers"...same lyrics... done by different artists...who purchased the rights to the song...
Have you ever found a cover that was as good as the original? A good cover pays tribute to the artist and the song lyrics and melody...they don't try to wipe away the original because there were parts of the song "offensive" to others...

Still profits, correct?

There are covers, I don’t like, but I don’t go around making political issues about it. I think it’s their right, I just don’t have to pay for it or listen to it.

I don’t get all butt hurt over it.

What part of The Little Mermaid was racist?

Disneys price is essentially the same price as it was at the start of the year. Which is way better than universal. This has nothing to do with woke. Entertainment is struggling. I guess you are awful at investing too eh, Nora?

It had a high during the height of the pandemic, when people were avoiding theaters and using streaming instead. But other than that, it's been roughly the same for the last five years. Per a quick Google search:

Sturgill Marshall does a Great cover of “The Promise” I think the lyrics are almost exactly the same but it’s nothing like when The Cure did it, they are both awesome.

It is their "right"...nothing wrong with expressing opinions about them... So I'm not sure why you get all butt hurt over people doing so...;)

And so they're trying to erase history...
What part of The Little Mermaid was racist?

I think by banning the sale of the song of the South, they are trying to erase their part in a racist history. They would argue they are simply trying to stop the promotion of racism. Anyway, it’s their right.

They have not banned the original little mermaid.

I decided to put Nora on ignore for excessive lying. It's been for the best.

Stinkerbelle has all the hallmarks of a Russian or Chinese misinformation agent. None of her claims are ever backed up by any sort of credible evidence. She promotes division, rancor, racism, bigotry, and Trump.

I’m not, I agree you can express your opinion, that is what this forum is for. I just think it’s funny how your ilk constantly is enraged by some company including minorities into remakes. I think it’s root is racism. You guys aren’t upset that they changed the style of the films, just the color of the characters.

Yeah, Jeff Healey’s cover of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” was better than the original. Some say Prince’s performance of the same was better.

The Dixie Chick’s cover of “Landslide” buries the original. (Like that pun?)

I listen to Forty Fingers covers of many tunes with no lyrics that just blow me away.

You're just reacting...not appreciating what others are feeling...there's no rage...and the root is not "racism"...We've all talked about changing the script, the music, the style, etc. Try to keep that in mind...It is silly to refer to us as "your ilk", btw...we all have very different opinions...That's what these forum are for...to discuss...
The personal attacks get in the way....
