Woke Disney does it again

Yeah, Jeff Healey’s cover of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” was better than the original. Some say Prince’s performance of the same was better.

The Dixie Chick’s cover of “Landslide” buries the original. (Like that pun?)

I listen to Forty Fingers covers of many tunes with no lyrics that just blow me away.
That's your opinion...not all will agree....and that's OK.... Were any of the lyrics changed?
Don't know Jeff Healey...but I'll check it out...
Prince is unique and genius, but it wasn't better.
Not a Dixie Chick's fan at all (apparently, you aren't either...they're not the Dixie Chicks anymore...are they?))

I’m not, I agree you can express your opinion, that is what this forum is for. I just think it’s funny how your ilk constantly is enraged by some company including minorities into remakes. I think it’s root is racism. You guys aren’t upset that they changed the style of the films, just the color of the characters.

You are exactly right. The Reichwingers' obsession over "woke" is, as well. An example of blatant racism, from that very poster:

Does she bitch about your obvious TDS?

You're just reacting...not appreciating what others are feeling...there's no rage...and the root is not "racism"...We've all talked about changing the script, the music, the style, etc. Try to keep that in mind...It is silly to refer to us as "your ilk", btw...we all have very different opinions...That's what these forum are for...to discuss...
The personal attacks get in the way....

Look at the opening post, the only complaint was that the dwarves are now racially diverse.

Maybe Race isn’t the issue for you? I could give you that benefit of the doubt, but that is the issue for most people regarding the little mermaid.

When they covered “Landslide”, moron, they were the Dixie Chicks.

Opinion? Yep.

So, what’s your point? That your ‘opinion’ of Disney remakes is anything special?

The funny thing is that left to their own devices, message board MAGA morons never would have independently adopted the Woke grievance. It's not something they would have thought of on their own. They are just parroting what right wing media personalities ordered them to think.

Just like trained monkeys.:orang:

Well, they aren't anymore-why is that? ;) My opinion is just that...my opinion.... I never said it was special...and I said yours was OK...
Not sure why you're name calling...well, that might not be true...I'm pretty sure I know...
I'm a pretty good judge of people...guess teaching all those years has a great deal to do with that...;) You have a terrific morning...and rest of your day....

Toxic TOP wasted endless days on this forum bemoaning the recasting of Ariel with a black actor. That tells you something, doesn't it?

Yep.

They love the woke grievance thing because it allows them to openly, publicly express their hatred and bigotry by hiding behind a word whose meaning has been perverted.

Ribeyes, potatoes and eggs for breakfast with the entire family this morning.

You know, “family values” stuff that liberals know nothing about.

That's right. When asked to define Woke, they always just flail around revert to complaining about the same liberal stuff they have spent decades complaining about. 30 years ago they just were calling it politically correct.

Good...that's awesome...sounds fabulous...I know you like to cook...so do I...;)
(Well, that was an "almost" and I'll take it... but was it necessary to make a political statement? Silly you.... Don't be so defensive...;)

I've always been crystal clear that race was not my issue with the attempt at the redo...look back at my posts...I've said that many, many times...

BTW, Eva Cassidy’s “Over the Rainbow” is better than Garland’s ever was.

It had a high during the height of the pandemic, when people were avoiding theaters and using streaming instead. But other than that, it's been roughly the same for the last five years. Per a quick Google search:

Picking individual stocks is tricky, but avoiding a sector that is clearly struggling seems like a solid strategy. If one is looking for growth, ETFs are a solid choice. In partial to S&P ETFs, I still own a bunch of IVV, which is core S&P. I'm mostly income now, and it requires more research, but preferred stocks are the most stable income generators. And if you can find a regular stock that has paid consistent dividends over a number of consecutive quarters, snap it up. My Roth has mostly REITs because I don't care that the dividends aren't qualified. Right now, I'm getting about 9 percent in income. Not much growth, but I just don't care any more. I wouldn't touch Disney with a ten foot pole, but that's me.

You sound like a savvy investor. We have both mutuals and ETFs, along with other things. Between our pensions, social security, and income from investments, we haven't had to touch the principle at all. None of our funds are in Disney either. lol
