yes on the syrian resolution says the congressional peeps

I hope everyone here, along with venting on the message board, has also contacted their senators and/or representatives to let them know how you feel about this issue.

You can also contact Pres. Obama via the white house site.

When Darla and Blackascoal give you advice, you should consider taking it, Desh. They have been your friends.

I now see that I misjudged both of them in the past. They are principled.

Won't you join the Coalition of the Unwilling to Start More Killing?

Just because someone doesn't "stand for" the same thing you do, doesn't mean they don't' stand for anything.

For instance I stand for not bombing people.

And you really should take a chill pill because posting 100 times a minute? Not helping your case.

Gosh - it seems like only yesterday when I was "stalking" and "bullying" desh for responding in much the same way.

Times can really change very quickly.

Translation Dung: I'm going to continue to post the same thing "facts" "facts" "facts" over and over and over again

The irony of course which we can all see (except for Desh unfortunately) is you aren't changing anyone's mind Desh. Your repeated chants don't do anything. I'll even admit I'm somewhat on the fence about what to do here but your rants do nothing for me. Maybe if you spoke more in depth about what you expect the results to be, what effect (positive or negative or both) on the U.S. now and into the future for U.S. policy in the Middle East. What if we do get more involved than we initially plan? There are lots of variables at play and things are rarely as simple as they sound "we'll bomb their delivery systems, no one will get hurt in the process, and the U.S. will be done".

nope Im sure someone will get hurt.

It wont be babies sleeping in houses.

the effect will be that anyone thinking of using chemical weapons against civilians will have to think about getting their planes taken out

Doing nothing means that even when the moral question was placed before the world the world said.

"so what"

and dictators will smile

good idea

So you're going to call the white house and tell them "Bomb the fuckers!' eh?

You realize you'll never have one shred of credibility on war again? When a republican is in office and wants to bomb someone and you're against it, and you will be against it, I will laugh at you. So good luck with the "Dems for Warmongering Dems" club.

Count me way out of it.

Desh honestly you're full of shit. You agree with anything and everything any Democrat does, and you always have. You have no moral center. You are free to warmonger all you want on here Desh, but can the moral high ground bullshit because you ain't standing on it.

Desh, you are making less and less sense. Come into the light.

Join the Coalition of the Unwilling to Start More Killing.

Done and done. I told them not in my name.

Desh isn't alone and don't think she is. I follow quite a few liberals on twitter who I have seen tweeting pro-war shit since this started. I was actually shocked. Quite a few. And some of them were pretty radical as far as I knew.

But they are on their knees to the warpigs now.

All it took was obama telling them to assume the position.

If you live in a competitive House district writing your Congress person could have an effect.

Ironically, I live in one of the most anti-war cities in America and our rep (Pelosi) supports the war effort.

Personally, I don't see people who support military action as necessarily "war pigs" or anything like that. There is a pretty long tradition of left-wing support for the use of military intervention for humanitarian ends. It's not where I fall, but I don't think everyone who supports military action are bad people who love war for the sake of war.

True. I never dreamed Darla and BAC would rise above politics and turn out to be principled and non-partisan on an issue. I stand corrected.

Yeah, there's also a long tradition of liberals supporting "Spreading democracy" and all that horseshit as well. I certainly don't need to remind you of the long list of "even the liberal so and so" who supported Iraq.

And note what I said was that they were on their knees to the war pigs, because that's where they are. Now, some of them might truly be principled, but I have my doubts because I am talking about people who screeched as if someone set the on fire when Bush was warmongering. And I can't help believing that if this were Romney they would be screeching again.

In other words, at least 80% of them are nothing but hypocrites. Just my opinion. Doubt you will see it change. \

Unless DH, you actually believe for one second that Desh would be posting the same posts if Bush were still President? If Romney had won?

Because, no. Sorry. No.

And all I am saying is Desh is far from alone in the hypocrite club.

Did you?

What did you tell them?

I did, and basically echoed my concerns about it. I'm in the "undecided" column at the moment, leaning toward not doing anything. Below is my email to Pres. Obama; the ones to Feinstein/Boxer were similar. I have not emailed my congressional representative as he has already come out against it. But I may send him something similar. I think he's just against it based on costs.

Cawacko, despite Pelosi being for it, I think you should still write her to ensure she knows that people in her district feel differently.

I am very concerned with the talk of attacking Syria due to the alleged use of chemical weapons by Assad.

1) the use of weapons has not been proven; UN and others have some doubts

2) Other countries are not joining us - we should not do this alone

3) It is not clear that anything we do to punish Assad can actually help the situation in Syria and, in fact, may make it worse.

We all deplore the horrible situation in Syria; but it's a situation we should stay out of. And definitely we should not rush in militarily based on limited - perhaps incorrect information - and with no support from any other nation.

Yes, we should keep helping the refugees out with aid; but we should not interfere militarily, as horrible as it is to see so many people die.

I haven't teamed up with five men to call her names. I said where I stand and then put her on ignore. I am not interested in crossing a line into bullying, and I use the ignore button when I feel someone is so badly on my nerves that I would.

That is why Onceler is on ignore.

I certainly hope no one here believes it's because I can't handle his snarking at me all the time.

No, it's because I once truly really liked the guy, and I would shred him. I don't want to. :)
