Alabama QB Jalen Hurts in NCAA transfer portal, can be contacted by other schools

The "checkers" are common knowledge.

And yes, I think he would tell Saban if Tua skipped class.

Then you are naive, when was the last time Sabin, or any top ten team coach, disciplined a star player, a star player, not a defensive back with two subs ready to take his place, for academic reasons?

There is no NCAA rule against players skipping a class. But if his grades drop, he could be ineligible.

Saban does not release the reasons for most of his public disciplinary actions. He certainly doesn't call a press conference for chewing out a player.

You two are exchanging on the same theme, I'll settle it for you, Alabama is a good football team and has been for over a decade, they should be, they spend the dollars to make sure they are good

It is semi pro, the common denominator being money. Take NASCAR, they start forty cars at Daytona, but ever year the probability exists only a half dozen cars can actually win the race. A driver as David Reutimann is never going to win Daytona without accidents taking out the top ten cars. It is all about money

Same applies to college football, if you spend the big bucks you can buy yourself a good team, Alabama has been doing it for years

Ineligible, how does one become ineligible in "exercise and sports science?" Got to believe Sabin also doesn't "call a press conference" to reveal ineligible players either

In order to play football (and most other sports), the athlete must maintain a certain GPA. If he falls below that he is ineligible.

I'm not happy about losing. But I am not whining or complaining.

And yes, the 2013 BCS championship win was considered an upset. At least by the same sports people who called the Clemson win an upset.

There you go again arguing from authority claiming those with a title behind their name know what they're talking about. They can call it what they want. It doesn't make it so.

And who called Clemson's wins upsets? Your neighbor? You use the same experts.

They get another semester on probation, don't you remember Calipari with his one and done recruiting? All they had to do was show up for class the first semester, go on probation the next semester, and even didn't even have to do the showing up after January

And if the kid is returning, he does double sessions in summer school. Haven't you ever talked to your son's friend who does the class monitoring to see how things work?

Saban is well known for his requiring his athletes make progress towards a degree. YOu keep referring to individual basketball programs. Apparently you assume all coaches and programs are the same.

"If Clemson had been #1 and Alabama had won the game, it would have been an upset." - Post #149

Are you arguing the reciprocal wouldn't be true?

No, I am not arguing that. In fact, I am pretty sure I have said when the #2 team beats the #1 team it is considered an upset.
