Baltimore bridge hit by container ship, major collapse

I will note this about Biden, and I don't blame him for the accident, that Biden took very little time to make a public response to this accident and pledge federal support unlike his dithering for days and basically doing nothing with the East Palestine Ohio train derailment. I guess the difference is Baltimore and the surrounding area are heavily Democrat, while East Palestine Ohio is heavily Republican. Seems Biden, just as he always does, panders to those he thinks will vote for him while kicking to the curb and not giving a shit about anyone who he thinks won't.

Because Biden is trying to buy votes, as usual... Baltimore is heavily Democrat and deep blue, East Palestine Ohio--as but one example--is Republican and red. Biden has spent his whole career worried about one thing: Joe Biden. What it takes to get reelected is all he's worried about. If his throwing money at Democrats will get their vote, Biden's throwing money at Democrats.

So what you're saying is that Biden is secretly a Republican?????

Go taking a fucking look at the CA HSR project, just one more national embarrassment added to the huge pile of Em.

And the Russians....in America the Cant Do Nation forget about it.

It'll take months just to clear the wreckage. Safety comes first, price comes last, and efficiency and progress are irrelevant... Hell, the environmental impact studies will take years.

Look at the Oakland Bay bridge. One section collapsed in an earthquake and it took longer to fix that than build the entire bridge and the cost was significantly higher too.

Safety is the general excuse for failure to perform, and almost always the excuse used when taking our freedom.

Biden issued a statement at the podium today too. Seems he's been over that bridge in a train multiple times... (Hint: It isn't a train bridge...)

When you choke off Baltimore you have cut the main north-south hazardous corridor (I95) in half. Now has to go around the city - or go somewhere else.

I like Lara, but she is wrong this time.

695 is a generally a circle around Baltimore, that is roughly bisected by I95. Instead of going around the Eastern loop, they will now go around the Western half of the loop ... which might take 40 minutes instead of 25 minutes for the now damaged, shorter Southeastern loop.

As for the Baltimore Bridge accident it does seem to be exactly that.

"Here is the police dispatch from before and after the bridge collapse, as first reported by @DCNewsLive

Mayday calls were received by first responders, they were aware the ship had lost steering, and stopped incoming traffic from getting onto the bridge.

Reportedly, no civilian vehicles were on the bridge at the time of collapse. There were 8 workers filling potholes on the bridge at the time of collapse, 2 survived, 6 are unaccounted for and presumed dead.

This means that if this was a terror attack meant to kill people, it was not very effective. What kind of terrorist warns first responders to save civilians?

If the terror attack was meant to cripple American infrastructure and shipping, I95 and I895 have been implemented as alternate land routes, the port will be able to operate after the way is cleared, and supply chains have already begun diverting transportation through other ports until the Baltimore port is viable again.

GM and Ford have both said this will have “minimal impact” on their operations and have already deployed contingencies.

I know you heard lots of doom-mongering today about how this is going to cripple the United States economy, but the that’s simply not true at all. This isolated incident will be an inconvenience, but the machine will keep churning. If we see a trend of accidents like this, then I might start to worry.

If you think this ship was hacked, and the bridge was taken out intentionally… then this attack was horribly executed and didn’t accomplish much."

I note that as we are told that this was not terrorism investigators still have no idea why power was lost.
