There is no point wasting money on piddle power like wind generators or solar panels.

Tell that to farmers who have utilized wind and solar and other forms on their farms for decades and well before the gov't was incentivizing it and they will tell you, you are idiot.
 
In fact, Texas is suffering from capitalism in the energy sector. They will provide the bare minimum of maintenance and infrastructure because the profits go to execs and investors. If they want to keep their high-paying jobs with super bonuses, they have to deliver to the investors. Customers' complaints and suffering are just background noise.
Their calculations is how can they maximize profits and deliver as little energy as they can get away with.

Yup.


If Texas utilities reinvest profits to create a more robust grid, those are profits they cannot hand to investors. It also means they do not get the massive profit booms when the systems struggle and they raise prices massively, then crying SHORTAGE, as they rake in massive profits.

So fixing the grid simply is not in their best interest. They are very much recreating the Big Oil model where every 'crisis' is actually a financial boon for the industry and only a crisis for the citizens.

Why would the industry ever want to spend profits to fix that?
 
Texans should be thanking T. Boone Pickens for pushing all that useless wind generation on them... The more the Left forces investment in solar and wind, the less reliable our power grid will become, and the more expensive electricity will become.

First, thanks once again for your unsubstantiated, vague opinions.

Second, Texas remains a Red State with a Republican governor and a majority Republican Senate. My state doesn't do shit without the consent of the Republican Party. You are free to claim Lefties forced Texas into doing something it didn't want to do, but I continue to disagree without facts.
