Cold climates and mountainous areas are not at very good location for year round use of EVs. I have friends who love them, but they charge at home and use them locally. I haven't asked what they do for long trips.

Of course, in a decade the nation's infrastructure will be much more friendly to EV owners. Right now, charging away from home is a challenge.

There is insufficient non fossil fuel energy to support the production of the electricity needed for a massive switch over. And there are no plans on the horizon to change this. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts it would be Christmas for the democrats every day. Stupid ass virtue signalling pipe dream.

There are 8 states that allow for registration of a vehicle to be out-of-state. California, and the other 12 states mandating EV's in 2035 aren't on that list. So, any car model year 2035 and on as of right now will have to be an EV to be registered in those states.

It is YOU that doesn't understand. If you buy a car out of state that doesn't meet California's laws on vehicles, you can't register it there. If you own a car that doesn't meet California's laws on vehicles, you can't register it there.

Doesn't change that it's a government mandate. If you want to buy a car, you are going to be limited to choices the government gives you with no alternatives.

Sure, but then you can't register it in the state you live in because of the mandate. It says all cars of a certain year model on must be EV. So, you buy an 2036 ICE vehicle, and your state says EV's only, you can't register it in the state in which you live. It is also already illegal to live in a state and have your car registered out-of-state unless you just moved there, and then you only have a short window to re-register the vehicle.

You are confused in that you think only EVs are ZEVs.
All Electric Vehicles are Zero Emission Vehicles but not all ZEVs have to be EVs.
California law in no way claims all cars of a certain model year must be EVs. In fact, the law even allows for hybrid vehicles in 2035.
