There is a greenhouse effect and it does matter with respect to global temperatures. But the analogy is limited by the fact [pay attention to this part] the earth is not a greenhouse. If it was, we would be roasting almost like we were on Venus.

The so-called greenhouse gases are only one constituent of the atmosphere. Moreover, greenhouses don't have large oceans that matter tremendously in terms of how the climate behaves.

In short, to paraphrase your president on another issue, nobody realizes how complicated the earths climate is.

Which neatly explains the lack of consensus on the issue of global warming.

There is no lack of scientific consensus that human activity emitted greenhouse gases are the primary driver of climate change. There is denial from mouth breathers depending on invincible ignorance as a debate tool.

Dear idiot, the planet has been in a warming trend for millions of years. Glacial melting, which covered most of the Northern Hemisphere, began long before the invention of the automobile.
