‘Dilbert’ dropped by The Post, other papers, after cartoonist’s racist rant

Newspapers dropped the cartoon because of explicit racist rants of the cartoonist. Nothing to do with the comic strip. That's capitalism.

Right. Completely.
I'm not a huge fan of American capitalism, but the editors thought that continuing the cartoon would be bad for business so they did what they had every right to do.

Meanwhile, the people who enjoyed the cartoon can't see it anymore because the woke snowflakes got their way.

To me, people enjoying the cartoon is more important than what the idiot cartoonist may have said on an obscure video,
but we all see things differently. I understand that.

You see things by justifying racism. I do not. Newspapers are selling a product. They did not need Adams. Tough shit.

We disagree, Tach. We'll probably always disagree. How you can conclude that my premises don't rationally pan out is a bit annoying, but that's ok too. Part of life is becoming annoyed from time to time.

Different things are important to me than are important to you. That's basically all that I'm trying to say, and that ABSOLUTELY IS true, isn't it?

It seems your constant fall back is to make a declarative statement and then try to "gray area" everything into an innocuous "opinion"...that way you can NEVER be wrong in anything you say.

Not everything is a "I like chocolate and you like vanilla" disagreement. YOU get annoyed because sometimes when challenged on a point you can't rationally, logically or factually defend or support it. Getting called out on it bothers you. Tough donuts, no one said life was fair.

So spare us all the various attempted smoke screens, okay?

It's actually the individuals within the student body, not University rules, mandates or regulations.

When I was in college a LONG time ago, in wasn't unusual for various "minority" groups on campus to host their own holiday parties and events because they felt the majority students purposely ignored their input ... back in the days of a musical "culture wars" - rock vs. country/western vs. disco vs. soul vs. r&b vs. jazz vs. acid rock, etc., etc.

It was what it was, it is what it is, it will be what it will be.

Okay, what about these?

My man....YOU KNOW/UNDERSTAND NOTHING OF WHAT IT MEANS TO LIVE IN THE SKIN OF PEOPLE WHO GREW UP IN A COUNTRY WHERE THEY FACED (and in some cases still do) job & house discrimination, police abuse and murder BECAUSE OF WHO THEY ARE.

History has PROVEN that if blatant racism left uncheck and unchallenged can embolden some folks to bring back variations of the days of Jim Crow, or lynching or Slavery. Letting Adams continue to profit while he spews vile racism in a current environment where bigoted and racist individuals feel emboldened to act out is dangerous and detrimental to specific individuals and society itself.

That's reality. The true "snowflakes" are folk like YOU, who feel a fantasized mindset of how society "should be" is threatened, and thus directly or indirectly support such aforementioned vileness.....especially since when all is said and done your posterior is not on the hot seat.

Carry on.

You absolutely refuse to allow me to say it nicely, right?

I find your opinion to be completely full of shit, and I suspect that you're just another aggrieved black man blaming Euro-Americans for everything wrong in the world.
I supported all the civil rights legislation. Now leave me the fuck alone.
Your problems aren't my problems, and I've got too many of my own to take them on.

Look, everybody who's a member of a race is racist to some degree.
You're not an Italian American from my old neighborhood, nor would I expect you to aspire to be that.

I wasn't the guy who drew the blueprint for our imperfect species.
I'll worry about what's important to me, and I expect that you'll take the same approach.
It will all work out or it won't.

2 of your examples are attempts BY STUDENTS, NOT BY UNIVERSITY OR COLLEGE MANAGEMENT/AUTHORITY.

One of your examples states the following: "... to be clear, it is not campus operated. This property is operated by a private landlord, and it is not the role of the campus to comment on what private landlords are ‘allowed’ to do,” he said."

And another states this: These supplementary ceremonies are voluntary and are offered in addition to the universities’ regular graduations. Sometimes they’re co-hosted by black campus resource centers and various academic departments.

Again, NOT university or campus policy or rule or regulation.

Do I support such? Nope. I understand the reasoning, but I don't support the "solutions".

I can't know what it's like to be you...that's true.
Nor it it reasonable for you to expect me to understand.
You don't understand me, either.

1. No, I refuse to let someone piss on my shoes and then tell me it's raining. BS is BS, whether a sloppy mess on the floor or delivered in a purloined letter.

2. Thanks for being real for a change .... and proving my previous assessment of you. FYI: I just call out folk of your mindset, NOT every caucasian person of European descent (another patented retort of the racist/bigoted mindset when caught flat footed spewing garbage they can't defend).

3. A dubious claim, given your statements on this thread. You come off as one of those "fair weather" or NIMBY liberals from the late 60's and early 70's.

4. YOU give a back hand, inadvertent support of jokers like Adams, whether you admit it or not. One does not continue to support a person who is advocating your demise, no matter how good his product. Adams tirade is NOT directed at you...so yeah, it's NOT your problem....but don't you DARE try to tell me it's not mine either, because historical facts and just plain logic won't let that dog of yours fly.

5. Ahh, but would you be blowing this smoke if it were YOU and YOURS that were the targets of advocated racist actions?

6. That didn't even make horse sense! This is NOT about "aspiring" to be someone else...this is about calling out a mindset that is detrimental to my existence and setting clowns who perceive they have the intellect/rational/right to tell me it's no big deal WHEN YOU CAN ONLY THEORIZE AND SURMISE, BUT NEVER LIVE THE FACT straight!

7. My man, spare me this "species" BS you keep falling back on. YOU ARE A HUMAN AS I, but you are NOT the ethnic/racial/ person as I dealing with America's legacy of congenital racism. One doesn't have to be "perfect" to acknowledge that.

8 & 9. See previous entries.

Puh - leeze! Spare me this lame attempt at patronization in order to stubbornly hold onto your blather.
I understand your mindset on this subject all too well....I've been dealing with it my entire life, as did my parents, and theirs, and theirs.

Outside of plain denial and insipidly stubborn repetition, you can't defend your previous statements. Seems you're on some version of what I call "parrot mode". A pity. Carry on.

Do any of these universities oppose or reject this stuff?

You kind of contradicted yourself there. The comic was pulled due to its creator's racist rant. That's capitalism, as most of us have agreed. Companies don't want to be associated with a particular behavior because it is bad for business. You can call it Karening, woke, PC, whatever but it has nothing to do with "snowflakes." It has to do with respect and civility, two virtues that Mr. Adams seems to have lost. I suspect that if his rant had been targeting Muslims, LGBTQ ppl, Jews, women, or Italians the outcome would not have differed.

Good people do not like bigotry or being associated with it.

You sound more and more like a racist who hates Euro-American people.
That's ok.

Maybe it sucks to be an American of African heritage,
and maybe you have more than enough reason to be resentful.

How the hell would I know?
And why should I accept blame for it?

Is that what you want me to do?
I guess I'm having a hard time understanding your point.

Anyway, even if I don't understand you, you're comfortable with your opinion of me.
I guess that you may carry on as well.

Well, you know me, Owl.
I don't give a fuck about that sort of thing.
Call it my personal character flaw if that's how you see it.

I find it hard to understand how an idiot cartoonist hurt anybody shooting off his mouth on a video that most people will never see.
On the other hand, I can visualize people who enjoyed the cartoon in their morning paper being disappointed.
That's how MY mind works. I'm not woke.

“If nearly half of all Blacks are not okay with White people … that’s a hate group,” Adams said on his live-streaming YouTube show. “I don’t want to have anything to do with them. And I would say, based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to White people is to get the hell away from Black people … because there is no fixing this.”

Gotta espouse the leftist mantra or be canceled. In b4 the syndication and he makes millions.

Not walking into the black cloud isn't racist, it's just common sense. Blacks don't walk into the black cloud either.

I live in FL, and I'm not avoiding individual black people that don't give me a reason to. :nono:

Lack of knowing the "secret signal" does, though. It is a thing, yessir it is. :D

First, spreading lies and hate is exactly why Fox News is being sued, neef. It causes harm.

Second, only fucking morons think he's going to prison for this. If a business doesn't want to do business with someone who advocates child abuse, racism, violent atheism or anything else, they have a right to do so.

When do you start getting sued for spreading lies and hate, dicknose?
