You keep asking me for something that I admitted in the beginning doesn't exist.
If your position is that the only time we ever really need to be concerned about totalitarianism is only after it's already implemented, I disagree. Most movements start small.

How on Earth is it not homophobic to refuse to recognize same-sex marriage? How is it not homophobic to say that same-sex marriages should not get the same benefits as hetero marriages? We're not talking about extra benefits, we're talking about equal benefits.

And everyone knows that conversion therapy not only doesn't work, but also mentally scars children and often leads to suicide. When someone says they believe in conversion therapy, what they're really saying is they believe in psychologically torturing children until they either suppress their sexuality or kill themselves.

How is it homophobic? I'm willing to have the discussion with you, I tend to be more of a supporter of same sex marriage. Rather than an opponent of it. But I don't take it for granted that everybody that disagrees with me is terrible.

Agreed conversion therapy is not legitimate and I don't think it should be practiced on children. If an adult wants to try, I see that as no different than visiting a psychic, or a chiropractor.

Not in my experience. most people who believe in gay conversion therapy are gay themselves. And they go through with it too live according to whichever lifestyle they want to live.

I think it's misguided you should be able to accept yourself but there are those people. And I don't think they're doing it because they want to psychologically torture children.

You need examples that there is a such thing as the me-too movement or social justice warriors?

I'm just asking because you seem to acknowledge these things exist prior to this conversation.

Yes, but I think social justice warriors are such a tiny minority, that they have no real impact on society. Basically, these people are fringe in the Left, the same way Rad Trads and Neo-Nazis are fringe in the Right.
So when the Unhinged Right screams about THE TOTALITARIAN LEFT, I think they're obsessing over like 2% of the Left.

That's the appeal to majority fallacy. Just because the numbers are tiny now doesn't mean they always will be.

It's not a fallacy when we're talking about the Left as a whole. My argument is that the Left is not totalitarian because the number of SJWs on the Left is so small, that they don't impact left-wing culture or policy.
Do some SJW cucks exist? Sure. But that doesn't mean "the Left" is SJW.

First of all, the groups financially supported by Chick-Fil-A don't want gay marriages to have any benefits. They don't want them recognized in any way.
Secondly, while civil unions are better than nothing, it's still discrimination. It's like saying, we'll acknowledge your union, but you have to sit at the kiddy table. Imagine how pissed Lutherans would be if the government decided that they could still have tax exempt status, but they can't call their buildings "churches," they have to call them "meeting spots." It would be treating this one group of people differently for no other reason than to be a dick.

Sure, in a free country, people can hurt themselves if they want. Conversion therapy should be legal for adults just like drugs should be legal for adults.
However, supporting this practice is still homophobic because it's saying homosexuality is wrong and it's better to be mentally tortured than live as a gay person. It's especially disgusting when people like Mike Pence support this for gay teens.

Homophobia is still homophobia even when it comes from gay people. Look at how many people are racist against their own race. The fact that Quentin Tarantino is white does not negate his anti-white racism.
