"A Republic, if you can keep it."

but toppling quaddafi is different from all this. trade sanctions are our most powerful weapon. but globalist imbeciles like you have pronounced it off limits, cuz you're banker cocksuckers.

I was part of naval missions against Gaddafi in the late 80s. He was relatively minor. Worse was invading Iraq. Total bullshit move on our part and it cost the nation over 4400 American heroes, thousands of ruined American lives and over a trillion dollars in US taxpayer dollars.

you're a moron.

Feel better now, son? Why don't you get it all out. Maybe stamp your feet or throw a toy at your tv set.

question for you, if you'll answer it honestly. What part of the Libertarian ideology do you find crazy? or is it that you see just those pushing Libertarian ideology as 'nutjobs and whackos' and why?
so you're basing your entire viewpoint of Libertarian ideology on a single person who didn't understand what Libertarian ideology really is?

Nope. I used that guy as an example of one of the more rational libertarians I've known. It goes downhill rapidly from there.

I think Libertarianism could work well (and did, in the past) in small communities. I see it as more of a live and let live philosophy which I agree with in principle. Why jail people for victimless crimes like prostitution, drug abuse? You could use the Wiccan Rede to maybe sum it up: And it harm none, do as you will.

The problem comes in with that harm bit. If you love getting blotto every night at home, there's no harm to anyone but you. What if you're beating your family though? What if you make a run for more beer and hit someone? That's why we have government, why we have laws, why we have courts, why we also have jails.

Unfortunately most libertarians are unable to agree that civilization requires those things. They also tend not to be deep thinkers, or particularly self-policing or moral people. One who ran for Senator in Missouri a few years back had even spent time in prison for selling cocaine.

Like socialism? ;)

Yes, Libertarianism is a lot of live and let live. Like any other political ideology, there's the Goldilocks Problem: too much, too little and juuuuuust right.

Obviously allowing people to do as they please would mean the local energy companies poisoning my well water leaving me no choice but to shoot everyone involved...including any adult children and boys over 10. You know, just like in the days of my ancestor hillbillies like the Hatfields and the McCoys.

Obviously that's not an optimal solution, so laws need to be made and enforced. Namely, don't poison the fucking water.

I'm watching the Electoral College process on television. Trump is winning!!!!! Trump 35 to Biden's 27.

Remember when the Lefties wanted to get rid of the EC? If that had happened, and a person like Trump was President, does anyone think the process would see Trump elected by nullifying some national votes?

I was just reading the story about Michigan closing state offices today due to threats from the losers, while the EC count here takes place. The Cult is *still* ranting and raving about fraud in the comments section.

I have no doubt that when the house and senate meet in January to formalize the EC count, he'll try to get some (R) puppets to refuse to vote for it.

Being a Washington politician these days, especially a Republican, is a lot like being a US soldier assigned in 1990s Bosnia. There's a huge risk of being caught in the crossfire. Maybe some Republicans will weenie-out and abstain, but it will pass.

FWIW, I was working out of Miami International during the Russian Constitutional Crisis in 1993. Aeroflot had regular flights in and out of there to Moscow. The news broke about the military standoff between Yeltsin and Parliament. Russia was on the brink of civil war. The Aeroflot pilots were scared for their families and quickly left off schedule leaving several passengers behind. They violated several ATC rules but mainly we all just got out of their way. It was a tense time for them.

then i'd say you don't know any actual libertarians

I'd say again that you dont' know any real libertarians. no real libertarian is promoting no government, just limited.........

I'm too lazy to research this, but I'd wager that registered libertarians disproportionately fall into the following groups:

1. White
2. Male
3. Relatively young (under 60, with most under 40)
4. Relatively healthy (not much experience navigating our for-profit healthcare system)
5. Childless.

If you're all 5 of those? Well shit, then swallowing "taxation is theft," and "fuck civil rights laws" isn't that tough.
