They aren't. That's not the question. Where are they mentioned? They aren't. The Constitution clearly says anything not specifically mentioned in the Constitution is up to the states. Marriage laws are state issues. That's why abortion was sent to the states. We finally have a majority Constitutional Court after years and years of having a leftist activist majority Court. Same-sex marriage will be reversed eventually and sent to the states.

Where are the exceptions for having "rejecting the jurisdiction" or "defying the jurisdiction"? Additionally, how does a newborn reject or deny anything?

"Subject to the jurisdiction thereof". That's the phrase the left ignores. Citizens of another country are subject to the jurisdiction of their country. All persons born of citizens of the USA are citizens. That's the purpose of the 14th Amendment, to ensure the children of ex-slaves are citizens.

Your opinion will not be considered. When this gets to SCOTUS the Trump team will have some of the best attorneys in the nation presenting the argument that the interpretation your party uses is neither consistent with precedent nor a rational interpretation of the clause.

Your twisting words. The Amendment doesn't say "subject to the United States jurisdiction". It says "All persons born in the United States AND subject to the jurisdiction thereof....". Foreigners are subject to the jurisdiction of their country. There are many countries that don't give citizenship to anyone born in their country by foreign mother.

If you are in the United States, you are subject to its jurisdiction, even if you are a foreigner.

What do you think the word jurisdiction means? You might also be subject to the jurisdiction of your homeland, but for sure you are subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.

No, but the clear meaning covers them. The amendment was written with a broad definition for a reason. They could have just said “former slaves” are citizens, but they used broader concepts and principles to define what is a citizen, and those broad concepts clearly cover these people born here. People born here are not immigrants.

That wasn't true until the Supreme Court decided it was true 30 years after the ratification of the 14th Amendment. That decision can be reversed.
