Chavez On Private Schools: Teach Socialism or Face Takeover

You just reassert your position. It's not Chavez's country to do with as he chooses. Even if a majority agrees that does not justify suppression of the minority. Venezuela is not a single consciusness, regardless of nationalistic platitudes.

This is how the concept of a democracy as it's own justification crumbles. If the majority can do whatever it likes, they can use the state to suppress and even outlaw minority views.

Is this supposed to make some sort of sense?

from the link you posted:

"Just what the curriculum will include and how it will be applied to all Venezuelan schools and universities remain unclear."

I was fooled for three days into thinking you knew exactly what was happening in venzuela, and that you had 100% certainty about what they were doing.

You don't. You're speculating on what MIGHT happen down there. I'm not like that. I try not to make unequivocal statements unsupported by facts. No one really knows what these education reforms are going to be.

“We must train socially minded people to help the community, and that’s why the revolution’s socialist program is being implemented,” said Zulay Campos, a member of a Bolivarian State Academic Commission that evaluates compliance with academic guidelines. “If they attack us because we’re indoctrinating, well yes, we’re doing it, because those capitalist ideas that our young people have — and that have done so much damage to our people — must be eliminated.”

The details are unclear, but the quote above seems to make clear that they intend to indoctrinate.

Bingo, and their reference to "new citizens". Chavez has been warning for awhile that if people want to understand where he is taking Venezuela they should look to the USSR. He's not always dressed in red by coincidence...

Bravo Chavez Bravo :cheer:

It's THEIR country .. Chavez is VERY popular .. and THEY should be able to do whatever THEY want.

If the Venezulan people disagree with him, then they can get rid of him .. and THEIR elections have FAR more integrity than elections in America.

I see and so when Bush was elected then "THEY" should be able to do whatever "THEY" want?

Why would you say Bravo anyway? You don't want private schools around at all?

I'm sooo relieved that all of America's problems are cleared up, now I can join the "Concerned Americans for Venezuala" campaign.

And last week, I was too busy to.

Good work comrades!

Most of the Venezuelans I know worship Chavez. They told me if Chavez were ever overthrown by the CIA or, simply lost an election, they would kill themselves in solidarity with him!

I see, do me a favor then and if that is your TRUE feeling, you can cypriss can write letters to the Dems in Congress to stop worrying about what is going on in Columbia.

Of course I really think you are both bigtime liars but here's your big chance to prove me wrong!

"Human Rights Watch, which has joined the Democratic campaign against Mr. Uribe, claimed that "today Colombia presents the worst human rights and humanitarian crisis in the Western hemisphere"

Let me know when Human Rights Watch makes that claim about Venezuala, and then I can squeeze in the time to write a letter about Chavez.

But I don't give one rat's ass which system of goverment the citizens vote to have until then.

And as a former war supporter, you've got bigger fish to fry right here in the good old US of A mister.

"Bigtime liars"? What, are you in tenth grade? I think the last time I heard that phrase was from Eddie Haskel, on "Father Knows Best", or whatever that 1950s TV show was. :cof1:

Well they have certainly made statements criticizing them:
http://hrw.org/englishwr2k7/docs/2007/01/11/venezu14888.htm
http://hrw.org/english/docs/2007/05/22/venezu15986.htm

And that statement about Columbia being the worst comes from Maria McFarland Sánchez-Moreno, who's job is working on Columbia, it is not a statement issued by the organization.

But I don't give one rat's ass which system of goverment the citizens vote to have until then.
Sure you do or you wouldn't have made the above statement. Silly hypocrite.

Well I'm supporting Ron Paul, a candidate that wants out of Iraq immediately, how's that Clinton withdrawal plan working? Oh right, there's no such thing...
