Chavez On Private Schools: Teach Socialism or Face Takeover

Dano, why no fauxrage over Mugabe's plan to ban tuition wages in {gasp} private schools in Zimbabwe? I mean they are private schools and I know you libertarians get outraged over the government interfering in private affairs? Why no long diatribes over that?

Well they have certainly made statements criticizing them:

http://hrw.org/english/docs/2007/05/22/venezu15986.htm

And that statement about Columbia being the worst comes from Maria McFarland Sánchez-Moreno, who's job is working on Columbia, it is not a statement issued by the organization.

Sure you do or you wouldn't have made the above statement. Silly hypocrite.

Well I'm supporting Ron Paul, a candidate that wants out of Iraq immediately, how's that Clinton withdrawal plan working? Oh right, there's no such thing...

1) I'm not voting for Hillary Clinton, so you can stop repeating that line, which though you might find it "clever" was stupid the first time you said it.

2) If I didn't care about which system of government the CITIZENS of Venezuela voted for, I wouldn't say that I didn't care?? I suppose that is some sort of Danologic. They are free and they vote. Why do you have a problem with that? What makes you think you are fit to tell them who or what they should vote for? Is it because you're white? do you think that as non-whites they are too stupid to know how to vote correctly?

Amazing how many of those who once supported Bush are now for Paul ;)
Embaressment can make people do strange things....

So if Hillary wins the nomination for whom will you be voting?

Why did Chavez see fit to tell us who or what we should vote for? We voted for Repubs and if they want us to go to war, why do you and Chavez have a problem with that?

Sorry "if" ?

You're stealing my lines man. :D

Well, number one is a good question. I'm not supporting her in the primaries, and will be pretty devastated if she is nominated. But the General will be a tough call. Let's see, Hillary Clinton or the Republican nominee any one of which (it won't be Paul) will have spent the previous year up on a stage competing for "most insane white man" award, by trying to outdo the others on how brutally he would torture a suspect, how quickly he would bomb Iran, and how big of nukes he would use to do it, and how many more troops he would send to Iraq because "we have to win there".

You know, that's going to be a tough vote for me, I can see myself pulling the Rudy lever. Or maybe not! What do you think?

As for the second point, of course world leader always offer opinions on what other countries do, and in our case, we even attempt to overthrow other leaders as we did with Chavez. However, as an American citizen it's not my place to tell Venezuelans that socialism is not the system for them. That's certainly up to them to decide, and I have no idea how this impacts me? Or should even concern me, is there a genocide going on?

???
But I have posted about problems in Zimbabwe before.

Not me. So you won't vote for any pro-war Dems?

My congresswoman and Senator have been against the war from the get go. They continue to recieve my vote.

In the prez nomination, I'm voting for the candidate that not only represents my interests domestically, but has the best chance for redeploying our troops from iraq. And that ain't Mike Gravel, Kucinich or Ron Paul. They can't get elected nationally.

Bravo Chavez Bravo :cheer:

It's THEIR country .. Chavez is VERY popular .. and THEY should be able to do whatever THEY want.

If the Venezulan people disagree with him, then they can get rid of him .. and THEIR elections have FAR more integrity than elections in America.

You're an idiot.

The majority has no right to abuse the minority. Venezula is now a precedural, anti-liberal democracy like Singapore.

Nationalist trash.

Water are you going through another one of your episodes? If so, can you cut it short? I know it must have started yesterday when you called Damo a liar for saying he was published in the New Yorker, which I have no doubt he was, and i was hoping it would be over by today.

Blackascoal is working as hard as he can to destroy everything liberals have spent 200 years trying to accomplish.

Damo wasn't published in the New Yorker.

What bawc expressed is nationalism, plain and simple. The claim is that the nation state is the political unit holding rights to decide, rather than the individual. Further, he argues that no "outsiders" have a right to be critical.
