holyroller conservatives cheer coulters use of the word 'faggot"

Just like those on the left who will flock to purchase Frankens nonsense .... goes both ways.

Im sorry ..this is as Darla so eloquently stated... "faux outrage" .. on both sides of the political isle.

Ive never heard Franken say anything as outragous as Ann's recient comments.

Facts are not stereotyping Damo. I said all too common, not that all are that way. No spin was required Damo :)

I am fairly liberal and do not even like watching Frankin.
Coltface makes me ashamed to be of the same species as her though.

I think that this might be. (except to gays). And again, I’m not saying that I find it acceptable to use the word faggot, I do not, and it’s not a word that you hear in NYC very often, I can tell you that. That’s the truth. But compared to things she has said in the past, in my opinion, it pales.

But liberals have been building up a lot of anger towards this woman. There was nothing faux about our outrage when she said about Timothy McVeigh “it’s too bad he didn’t go to the NY Times building”. And I myself almost had an aneurysm when I saw the things she said about the 9/11 widows. And the constant “liberals are traitors and hate America” narrative from her. The thing is, we were never able to direct our outrage in any constructive way. Mostly just to each other. Now that liberals have been able to do this, they took their first opportunity to slam her ass, and she’s got it coming, and more.

She needs and on the spot reporter slot from Baghdad :D

Absolutely. I don’t understand why more of these brave right wing pundits, who complain so loudly about the press coverage of Iraq, don’t go over there and report about it themselves.

From outside the Green Zone.

Reminds me of some of the things I heard from Randi Rhodes while she was still on the air. Whoooo...

And I said it was "all too common" too.... It seems that all too common seemed to get you somehow. Stereotyping "cons" is a passtime of liberals and you know it is.

How often do you hear "closet gay" about some R who is against Gay Marriage? It pretty much is constant. So, all too often fits.

Not a fan of Rhodes, because her voice and manner irritate me. In fact, even though she’s a big name, I refused to even attempt to get her for our CodePink Women’s day panel, though others in my group wanted her. So not being a listener, I’d love any example you have of quotes from her, calling for the deaths of a building full of people, or of mocking and demeaning the looks and character of any widows, including calling into question whether they ever even loved their dead husbands.

Seriously, please post them, I’d love to peruse them. She’s loud and obnoxious, I had no idea she has also advocated mass murder.

Here's a nice quote from her:

"This guy [Judge Alito] just creeps me out. He's quiet. He's not a guy who shoots up stores, he dies in a blaze of glory. No. That's not who he is. He's like one of those guys who goes along for years really quietly ... murdering hookers. You know what I mean? That's more him. He's the kind of guy that you live next door to for 30 years, and then all of a sudden a bulldozer shows up, and there's 31 kids buried underneath.

What makes me laugh about this one is what is she really complaining about? The guy is nice? She'd prefer for him to be a jerk? What is her beef other than she wanted to compare him to a serial killer (of course that must be better than comparing him to a homosexual using crude terms)...

There's more.

I can't remember how many times she wished that Bush and Cheney would "just die"...

It's like Bill Maher saying that Alito needs to bomb an abortion clinic.

The statements are made to shock people. Randi and Maher are made from much the same cloth.

I don't see her calling for anyone's death here Damo. You have Coulter calling for the deaths of a building full of people, and also stating that it's ok to poison Supreme Court Justices so that you can get friendlier ones on the court. She has also called for the internment of Liberals in camps.

Rhodes lacks some class certainly, but you are still playing the favorite right wing card of false moral equivalence.

I heard a tape of this. The cheering was extremely limited. You could tell that most of that crowd were seriously uncomfortable with her joke. I think, if she keeps this crap up, she'll be pretty much gone. She has just plain gotten nasty lately.
"Lately?"

I said "reminds me" not that they were exactly the same. And wishing for somebody's death is about the same as wishing for somebody's death to me....

The remarks remind me of each other. They are equally made to be "shocking" and they pander to specific audience who are more willing to hear bad things about the other side.

This is another one of those issues on which I seem to be standing way out in the flats of the bell curve. Most people seem to take such speech much more seriously than I do.

So, she called Edwards a faggot. This is supposed to be an insult, I guess. I kind of like 'Dawg's reaction:

:cheer: Yay Faggot! :cheer:

On the other side of things, it really doesn't upset me to hear people wish Bigdick Cheney dead, or Michael Moore dead or even Ralph Nader dead. I'm sorry, Damo, but it really doesn't. No emotional reaction at all.

Okay, I get a mite testy when someone wishes Pamela Anderson dead: them's fightin' words. But that's different. :eek2:

So, she wishes Dubya would drop dead. Big deal. Lot's of people wish that on a daily basis. Makes no nevermind: all the wishes ever wished in the entire history of the universe have less weight than a single photon.

Oh, I'm not upset or "outraged"....

I'm not going to pretend that I care. The remarks remind me of each other.

I'd wish for conservatives to stay out of that melee, but I know that they won't. Hence the reason I say she is "crude" not "the most evil thing ever to be made of pipe-cleaners". Or make fun of that annoying voice of Randi's. I've been to New York, most people do not talk that way.

Damo,

Let me know when Randi Rhodes is invited as a keynote speaker, for important and nationally televised Democratic meetings and conventions.

I'm not aware that Rhodes is held out as a spokesperson for the Democratic party. I don't think I've ever seen her give keynote speeches at Democratic meetings.
