I’m changing my party affiliation

I've only voted in MO and MI where you did not have to be a registered (R) or (D) or (L) or whatever to vote in the primary. You did have to choose a ballot though that only had the candidates from one party on it. Nothing wrong with that.
I agree. I register Independent so that nobody believes that they have me in their back pocket.

If I lived where there were open primaries, I'd probably be splitting the Republican tickets.

Most reputable historians find the 1619 essays poor history that try to throw in race where it does not belong.

Yep, have definitely seen that.

It's interesting, I went to a couple of Black Student Union meetings when I was in high school. So I learned about Black Wall St for instance back then. I saw a black friend get pulled over for driving while black and a few other things. Those things have always stuck with me (in a good way) as knowledge is power. But some of this other stuff I'm not buying, like teaching kids that if you're white the cops won't mess with you and if you're Asian, Indian, Hispanic or Black they will. Do we need teachers to break down that cops kill far more white people than any other racial group (to counter those who think white privilege prevents white people from being harassed or killed by cops)?

And this push to eliminate the SAT, and take away certain ways we grade and other tests, all in the name of "equity" is doing a total disservice. Arguably it's even racist (because it's saying specifically that black kids can't compete). People can b*tch about globalization all they want but its not going away. Young kids today are competing in a global world for the best schooling and jobs. Dumbing down our education system for equity helps no one.

Been a card carrying Libertarian for about 23 years now and haven’t voted for a winner in a national election during that time.
I will register as a democrat or a Republican but can’t decide.
If democrat I could vote for the most qualified candidates and help out the party. E.g., I liked Tsongas back in the day. When I was a kid too young to vote I liked Eugene McCarthy, the anti-war candidate. O’Malley was far better than hrc (who wasn’t?). Maybe woulda voted for him over Johnson had he been the nominee. Or I could hurt the party and vote for the worst possible but dems already are very consistent in doing that without my help.
If I register as a Republican I can be part of a real and positive change that’s seems to be occurring within the party.
What to do? :dunno:

It doesn't matter who you vote for, political parties cater to lobbyists dictatorship (or the dictatorship of their own personal shares in stock market) and independents never get Potus.

Let me give you a little shortcut to the chase as you make your decision!

If you want to preserve Democracy- the decision is clear!

And I would certainly like to invite you to give the Democrats a try. We certainly have our problems, but we are a Big Tent party and even the most conservative thinkers have a place in our party and are certainly welcome! As long as you are an optimist and a pragmatic we want you to be a part of our party.

You don't have to make a lifetime commitment!

But until the Republicans prove they are pro-Democracy, respect the law, and stop with all of the TRUMP infused crazyness- it is a safer place to hang your hat!

:eyeroll:

Oh please stop with the hateful misconceptions! You are an example of why people should be jumping ship with the Republicans.

And your expressed hatred and insane rhetoric is the reason why we are recruiting millions of Republicans to vote along with us until TRUMP goes away for the good of the Country!

:palm:

Projection
Projection is the process of displacing one’s feelings onto a different person, animal, or object. The term is most commonly used to describe defensive projection—attributing one’s own unacceptable urges to another. For example, if someone continuously bullies and ridicules a peer about his insecurities, the bully might be projecting his own struggle with self-esteem onto the other person.

What do you mean? Voting for the worst (R) in a primary election?

And you wonder why dems will probably lose huge next election?
I’m pro choice. I’m Not for gun control, I’m for repeal of the second amendment.
Considered Trump the third worst candidate of them all in ‘16, liked O’Malley actually.
Hated Bush and McCain because I’m Anti war.
I always considered those guys that chased down that Aubrey kid to be guilty of murder.
Yet half the board here considers me a white supremacist nazi.
You included.

I don't know about the Nazi part, but you ARE white. lol

Tell me more about your idea of repealing the 2nd Amendment. I'd be in favor of that as long as there was a legal means of possessing hunting and target-shooting firearms. Maybe licensing their owners, who have to demonstrate safety and proficiency in order to get the license.

What change do you think you see in the Republican party? And why register for any of them? Why not just vote your conscience, vote for the best candidate no matter what letter comes after his/her name?
Change happens at the caucus and Primary level. There will be no change to the candidates if the same people choose the candidates.

Correct. I'm still a libertarian and as such I'm A personal responsibility guy. I believe one has to demonstrate he has the personal responsibility to own lethal weapons.
Show you've taken a gun safety class, no previous felony, psychological testing. Only then can you legally own firearms.

As far as the Nazi part you certainly imply it calling me a Reichwinger. At least you're honest about the white part although you left out "male".
Big tent party, party of tolerance my ass.
I'm about as moderate as one can get. Even advocated raising taxes as long as there was a concomitant to cut spending which is exactly what Clinton and Dole were able to accomplish creating one of the strongest economies we've had in my lifetime while reducing the national debt.
Oh I forgot. You and I came to an agreement on universal healthcare. Lol.
No, you people have shown over and over again you have no tolerance for anyone that that doesn't submit to your totalitarian state.

Better to have no ideas than bad ones . The positive change I see is that they’re growing balls and finally standing up to the extremism of the left.
But I agree with you. You don’t want me in your party if I were to vote for such heathens as Martin O’Malley, Paul Tsongas , or Andrew Yang.

Lolby doing what? Trying to deny people the right to vote? By posting their little tik tok videos? Wow they are SO corageous. Lol have fun.

Moosecare didn't work. But let that stay dead and buried.

Clinton's economy boomed because of the .com bubble, not because of spending cuts. Clinton raised taxes, as he promised during the campaign.

That's despicable. I've seen ppl advocate that on social media, both blue and red.
Of course it's despicable. It's what Gingrich created when he took out the contract on America.

Dems are idiots who play by the rules while Republicans cheat. How's that working out?

"We go high when they go low"

That's how we got trump.

Sadly you are too right. Trying to stay out of the pigpen the QOP wallows in is not working for either the (D)s or America. But still, what will it profit if we all become like them? I sure have no answer.

Don't worry. We will be a dictatorship in less than 10 years.

If the (R)s have their way... yes, we will.
They're going to have their way. Do you honestly believe Manchin/Sinema will vote to change the filibuster in order to pass voting rights legislation?

Hint...Manchin fundraises with Republicans.
