Is the age of Enlightenment over?

I don't use the term alt left, so would not know its definition. No one seems to be able to define it, so I am beginning to think it is meaningless.

Coincidentally, what you think is equally meaningless, since its your opinion, Salty Salty.

You don't apply the modify adjective "alt" as a matter of routine?

I apply it to mean an alternative to a movement. So if there was a reason to say we had an alternative to the left, I would use the term alt. I guess we could use alt for Third Way. I would use more the term moderate left, because that is a better description. So we need something far left, but not alternative to the old far left... Maybe something to do with anarchy, but I cannot think of a current movement that "alt left" would be a great description of.

Which brings us back to what is the difference between the "left" and the "alt left"?

Wally, when you are digging yourself a hole, the first rule is to stop digging.

No. As history often proves, human societies go through cycles. Often two steps forward and one step back. We're witnessing a a "one step back" part of the cycle.

So, no, the era of Enlightenment hasn't ended. People just need to recognize how much better it would be than the current phase of hatred and division is supporting.
I hope you are correct

A standard MAGAt trick is to use whataboutism and projection.

It's clear MAGAt leaders came up with the term "Alt-Right". After the neo-Nazi march at Charlottesville and the attempted mass murder of "Leftists" by a neo-Nazi along with the antisemitism and racism displayed at the "Unite the Right" march, Alt-Right supporters began calling those who opposed them "Alt-Left".

No prominent American left of Alt-Right has ever labeled themselves "Alt-Left" as prominent members of the Alt-Right have done. It's projection and gaslighting by supporters of the Party of Trump. They did the same thing when Trump's love of Jeffrey's 15-17 year old sex slaves came to light by labeling Biden a pedophile.

I advise all Americans who want to defend our Republic to arm themselves and become proficient in using a rifle. Start out with a pellet rifle in the backyard. Teach the kids responsible use of it. Don't wait too long to move up to a large caliber hunting rifle, either bolt-action or semi-auto. Trump may try to ban "Leftists"* from buying firearms.

*"Leftist": Anyone who doesn't support the Party of Trump.

Yes, this is a dark age, which is likely to last for at least another 100 years. If the world is not incinerated in WW3 there will be a rebirth of enlightenment eventually but the West is circling the drain.....for as far as the eyes can see the global world order will be Eastern feudalism.

OIC.

You don't think there's any rationale for applying the same standard to the left?
The same standards are applied to both. There is not a clear far left alternative movement, so no alt left. There is a far left movement, but not an alternative far left movement.

If you find one, get back to me.
