True. Same with mouse traps. The cat would jump on the dining room table, so I took some old spring-loaded mouse traps, bent the springs a bit to weaken them (I didn't need a vet bill) and place them on the table. After one or two incidents I didn't even have to arm the traps. The unarmed traps alone were enough to keep him off the table. As time passed, he stopped even trying to get on the table regardless if there were traps or not.
