Paul Draws 5000!

He's over 5% now and growing.

http://rasmussenreports.com/public_...ial_election/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

5000 people at an event is pretty significant. bac, was going on with claims of low turnouts as a measure. I am sure he will discard that one now.

So, Ron Paul, who has consistently outraised Mike Huckabee for three quarters, and has like ten times more money than Huckabee, is runing behind the former Arkansas governor in the polls? Wow. Not cool, considering all the money and media buzz Paul has.

Oh, and BTW: If you don't cherry pick one CNN poll, Ron Pauls average of all the November polls, is around 2 or 3% support. With a campaign chest his size, and a media buzz his size, he better get those numbers way, way higher - and quick.

Or, I'm going to start thinking that, even with massive amounts of money and media, the Libertarian message just doesn't sell. That it never has, and never will.

:pke:

It's profoundly laughable that many liberals on this board lament the gaining momentum of Ron Paul's campaign as he's the only candidate which advocates leaving Iraq immediately and fundamentally changing our foreign policy for the better. You would think they would be happy that 5,000 people turn out to support Ron Paul or 37,000 donate 4.3 million to his campaign in one day. Then again, many of them are happy to support Democrats which use similar language to Bush about Iran and falter in the face of anything that might seem unpopular.

If they actually cared about ending the war then they would be encouraged to see Paul gaining support.

As it is, they don't really care and just want to use it as a political issue to further the interests of their party.

There are two holes in your logic:

1)Mike Huckabee has those numbers in essentially one place, Iowa. His brand of social conservatism is popular there, and he has received more press coverage than Ron Paul, prior to November 5th.

2)These polls only reflect the opinions of people who voted Republican in the last election. Ron Paul clearly draws from many independents, Democrats, students who did not vote last time, as well as people who have become politicized as a result of the war but did not vote last time around.

He's the only candidate is he?

In fact, so does Dennis Kucinich, you are supporting him I presume? Or are you just blowing shit around to hear yourself talk about "the liberals"?

Yes we have been supportive of Kuchinich.

We didn't realistically expect party-first liberals to be as supportive of Paul as we are of Kuchinich, but the level of opposition among liberals to the most anti-war candidate of the 2008 field is very telling about their true priorities.

The Democratic Party first, ending the War in Iraq second.

Yeah, I have seen you and this guy on here cheering Kucinich.

Give me a break ok?

I would not vote for Ron paul, he is in my opinion, extremely mentally unstable as well as being seriously racist.

You being a thought nazi warren, which you are becoming more and more of every fucking day with your ron paul shit, jump around here claiming that means i don't want to end the war.

Let me tell you something boy..I am on the streets to end the war. I have spent thousands of my own money to end the war. Ihave been harrassed, threatned and spit at to end the war. I have been threatened with arrest to end the war

What have you done boy? You've called liberals names on a message board.

You stay out of my face on this subject, boy, until you get your teenaged, draftable aged asshole out on the streets and start putting that ass where your big mouth is.

If Ron Paul weren't in the mix, I would support Kucinich. I've become a very lopsided voter in terms of priorities, with getting us the fuck out of Iraq number 1-100. And on priorities 101+ Paul is more my style than Kucinich.

His successes are now signs of failure. How stupid.

And we spend our time ridiculing how pathetic Kucinich is? Obviously what he is selling is even less marketable.

That is how I feel about Kucinich, but neither he or Paul are going to win. I am realistic enough to understand that. So the next question is, who do you most want to make sure does not get the nomination of your closest party? And for me, that is Hillary. In the end, I will probably vote for Kucinich in the primary, which by the way is who I voted for in the 04 primary. But it is Edwards who is next best, and has a better chance than Kucinich, but he probably will not be nominated either. It is going to be Hillary or Obama, and in that case, I will hope for Obama.

I've had it with political expediency, and I will no longer, ever vote for it again. I'm tired of being a "given" by one of the parties, I'm tired of the duopoly claiming ownership of my vote before I've even voted. Maybe its impractical, and maybe it will never get me anywhere, but I'm voting my conscience from here on out. Period.

A vote for the lesser of the two evis is still a vote for evil, and I won't do that ever again. Paul is really the only guy I really like in this race. And when it comes to a general election, if he's not on the ballot, I'll see about third party candidates or write in votes.

Truly, I'm tired of these corporatle like, monolithic, mountains of money political parties tellimg me who I can and can't vote for. Its so contrarian to true Democracy its pathetic.

Listen bitch I just finished co-sponsoring a week long rally of anti-war events with SDS and the College LP working in partnership.

Before you open your cunt mouth again to tell me what I believe, I suggest you check yourself first.

And before you start bitching and moaning about sexism, let me point out that you were the first one to bring gender and age into this, so you can fuckoff and shove it.

I've been vocal in supporting Kuchinich on campus and on the Internet, and I could give two shits if you believe it. I've spent $900 so far this year on politics and I look certain to break a thousand before year's end. So don't fucking lecture me on my commitment to ending the war when you're writing out free passes to the most spineless fucking group of incompetents to ever call themselves Democrats.

Actually, I'd respect any candidate that held his or her crotch while singing "God Bless America", if it were done for a reason I could empathize with.

Its amazing how many so-called Christians do not "get" ; "Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s"

Nothing about this nation should EVER be seen as sacred.

The term "Sacred" invokes religious connotations and thus is misleading regarding legal documents. But there are things that should be treated with tremendous respect, including the constitution. Parse away.
