Prostitution........The Next Libertarian Debate

The first problem I see is your "Risk". It isn't the prostitution that causes the risk. It is the behavior of the married person that creates the risk. That is not caused by the prostitute.

But yes, prostitution should be legal.

Great response! I stand corrected. Thank you.

I think my issue on it has been that "married people might get busted". I guess I should think more on "married people shouldn't do it without approval"

Not many correct me in political debate and I thank you for doing so in a mature manner. Props/cheers

I would also take issue with the idea that prostitution is a 'unskilled' trade. I've been with more than a few women in my time, and I can say with ease that not all of them are equal in level of skill.

Lol, just like hair, some people can give a great cut, others just shouldn't.

I guess the only risk left is VD which the John knows is a possibility and knows how to attempt to prevent it.

I stand behind Prostitution until someone has a good argument why not to.

(Note; As a Christian I don't want Prostitution....but my Bible teaches me not to Judge others or cast stones. And my Country does not believe in forcing any Religion, even our own.)

Sorry, if it's legal, it's regulated, physical exams for the ladies. It is in the publics best interest. Condom use also required.

I actually liked bald, it wasn't bad, very low maintenance.

Do your own, or the wife? I help my sons when he does it.

I try to do it on my own but if my wife is around she INSISTS on doing it....I dunno she's weird like that. She babies my head too much (pause).

I know the Libertarian agenda more than most Libertarians do. It's not hard to figure out. It's self Liberty at all costs and has nothing to do with "United We Stand".

They will never stand for regulation on the topic. They use Fox News to sell/manipulate people into thinking everyone is a good person, until proven guilty. It's why we don't have background checks for guns even though most of America wants it.

They will NEVER want it to be Regulated and will eventually state that, "The Left wants to end Prostitution and attack Liberties" and hookers will receive and all time high Dick Downing by heavily armed Cultists.

Your wife shouldn't have anything to do with your personal decisions..............................................................................................................:O)

Yeah, purist are a bit zealous.

We should just make you the officical mouthpiece for libertarians on this site. All of the real libertarians can now just shut up.

Also, Fox doesn't really have a love-affair with libertarians, because it is very hawkish. Hell, I just listened to a panel which was attacking Christie for his shots on Paul, but then turned around and said that the libertarian position on foreign affairs is dangerous for America.

You don't know libertarians at all. Your risk reward analyses is just stupid and nothing but a couple strawman arguments without any basis.

I'm conflicted about it. When talking prostitution, I automatically think it's about the woman delivering the service even though there are male prostitutes. And in that situation I think women are more easily exploited and degraded. I also don't think legalized prostitution is going to help the really low-level segment, i.e. the street walkers with pimp "protectors".

Now this doesn't necessarily mean I'm against legalization, just that I'm conflicted about people selling their bodies.

Yes. I've know several call girls/escorts.....what ever you want to call them. Both of them told me a pretty similiar story. Neither was well educated both were quite attractive, they liked sex and they could make far more money than even at a "reasonable job". Were not talking drug addicted crack ho's now. They both told a similiar story. They'd book a hotel room, see between 2 to 4 johns a day. Work out of that Hotel for a week or two and then travel to a new location. They would make in the neighborhood of a thousand dollars a day. Sometimes more. They worked a schedule of two weeks on and four weeks off and would make around $10,000 to $15,000 per two week stint. Making around between $100,000 and $200,000/year, mostly tax free revenue working 17 to 18 weeks a year.

Now how many so called "reputable jobs" are there where you can make over $100,000 per year for part time work?

Sound like they like money, not sex. Anybody who likes sex can usually have as much sex as she wants for free.

I dunno....i've been to parts of the world that simply don't have our attitudes about the worlds oldest profession. It's not prestigious there and no one wants their daughter to grow up to be a sex worker.....but in lots of parts of the third world it's pretty tacitly understood the near universal truth. Pretty young women like to have fun, party and go shopping and older men like to pay pretty young women for sex.

Let me give you a scenario......you go to a nightclub in an economically depressed area. You meet an attractive young lady at the club, you dance and drink and laugh and have fun and go back to your hotel room and have sex. Nothing about money for sex is ever mentioned. The next morning you stuff X dollars in her pocket for "Cab Fare" in excess of what's needed for a cab, as she goes her way and you go yours. Is the young woman described in this scenario a prostitute?

Depends. Nothing about money was mentioned but was it implied? And why is he stuffing money into her pocket instead of saying "I'll hail you a cab". Because he thinks it was a transaction rather than a hook-up.

It is where I am conflicted as well, but I don't think women should be thrown in jail because they choose it as a profession.

I don't either, absolutely not. If it's a crime for the woman, why isn't it a crime for the john?

I am like you and wrongfully think about women as prostitutes, but there are males as well. They are exploited as well, especially young males.

I once believed that it was impossible for anyone to be more presumptuous and delusional about reality than desh, but you have surpassed her. congrats.
