Prostitution........The Next Libertarian Debate

It is like slavery - capitalism taken to its logical conclusion: the bossmen have to make holy noises or their attitude to the rest of us lumps of meat would be too obvious.

It is, and in some places with some johns it would work. But the johns are arrested and charged too but is that a deterrent? I don't know.

why am I not surprised that have so little clue about the reality of this as well.

It's because Rana and I were talking about women.

For me personally there's something icky about putting sex on a cash basis, whether man or woman. Agree or not, our society frowns on people selling themselves. Somehow I don't think the #1 draw at the former Mustang Ranch wants her kids' teacher, her parents or her pastor to know how she earns a living.

I read this once (don't ask where or when because it was so long ago) that publishing the name of the johns was their only punishment... a shaming, of sorts.

Not everyone shares that taboo. My favorite porn star (who also escorts) is a second generation one (in both professions). Some women and certainly some men aren't ashamed of it.
 
I really do not know why this is such a big issue, legalised prostitution works in places like Germany, Holland and Australia. Prostitution is legal in England but soliciting is not, hence most paid for sex happens in massage parlours.

While I do think prostitution should be legalized, from what I've read the industry is going downhill in Amsterdam and other places in Europe. Too many women are being imported in and forced to work in it. They need to crack down on that.
