The Charles Manson case is a good example of how conspiracy theorists can discredit a credible conspiracy theory. The whole story about the reasons for the murders was a lie created to protect Hollywood. However, there are now theorists claiming that the government drugged and brainwashed Manson's "followers" into killing those people. That's not true and it discredits any other theory regarding Manson.
