saw brokeback mountain tonight on HBO 4 star movie

Funny how Dawg doesnt get attacked for saying "people like Klaatu" ... I guess Klaatu may not be normal...as normal is percieved in this forum....

m'eh... It's kind of like somebody calling somebody a "Cracker"... It's supposed to be insulting, but it really hasn't any impact in reality...

Why should he get attacked for that? You have been vocal in your criticism of this movie, without even seeing it. That has more to do with prejudice & homophobia than it does with being "normal"...
 
I tend to like edgy films, but I wasn't a huge fan of Brokeback. I thought TransAmerica was excellent though.

And by the way, if anyone is thinking about seeing "The Fountain", don't.
 
If you are thinking of seeing "Happy Feet" with your kids, don't. Find somebody that is willing to take them for money... That movie sucked totally... And the whole "Two male Penguins" thing that the RR is suggesting took place, isn't in there... I have no idea what they are talking about.

Bummer - it looked like that movie had potential. I heard similar reports from others, though.

I saw Brokeback as a real "slice of life" kind of movie; I didn't see it as being particularly edgy, or even as a "gay movie." It was really about a small group of characters, at a certain time in our history & in a certain place. I thought it was very realistic in that respect.

I like good acting, also, and there were some amazing performances in that movie...

people like klaatu and other holyrollers dont' want to see this movie b/c it makes gay people appear human, they like to keep us down like we are subhuman, so when a movie like this comes along they get really ripped.

basically its almost as true life as it gets.... i guess you really couldn't be yourself back then if you were gay, so people got married and shit... i thought jake looked good til he pulled an adam and grew a stash, then i was kinda whatever but i was pulled in at that point.... anyways i don't want to ruin it for anyone who wants to see it, but it was really good. and could happen...

I like movies where things go "Boom!" ;)

Klaatu there is no reason to gross out everyone here with talks of tits and pussy... im on the virge of throwing up... i did finger a puss once and its definently not normal to do that.
 
transamerica was great.... brokeback was a wonderful movie.... the panoramic cimematography was breathtaking... the "gay" part of the movie was very minor from my perspective...it was primarily a movie about relationships and hteir staying power and long term impact on life.... Ledger's performance was masterful. huffman in transamerica was as good, however.

klaatu you were very vocal when this movie came out about not seeing it b/c the guy was cheating on his wife and it glorrified cheaters, yet no outrage over Pretty Womann where its glammouous to be a prostitute, hey if i become a prostitute maybe ill find a rich hot guy to take care of me...

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, but I wasn't ga ga over it like everyone else was.

But definitely stay away from "the Fountain". I'm guessing the only people that like the fountain are pretentious film students and wanna be pretentious film students. Not one ounce of entertainment and not nearly as good as "Requiem for a Dream".

Cinemetography doesn't make up for entertainment. Boreback was boring... Period. I fell asleep. Of course I normally fall asleep to boring "relationship" movies. They suck, even if they are filmed with panoramic views of northern Canada...

I think I enjoyed "TransAmerica" a lot more though.
