saw brokeback mountain tonight on HBO 4 star movie

klaatu you were very vocal when this movie came out about not seeing it b/c the guy was cheating on his wife and it glorrified cheaters, yet no outrage over Pretty Womann where its glammouous to be a prostitute, hey if i become a prostitute maybe ill find a rich hot guy to take care of me...

can someone give me directions to hollywood blvd??

Yeah I was... because of the reviews attempting to portray the beauty of two guys rolling around in a pup tent.. when one of them had a family at home. I was just as critical Bridges of Madison County for doing the same thing..... and I am a big fan of Clint Eastwood.

Im not sure Pretty Woman outlined the glamour... in fact it actually portrayed just the opposite... the girl...Julia Roberts .... had to overcome quite a bit of stereotype to finally gain the affection of Lancelot... :)

transamerica was great.... brokeback was a wonderful movie.... the panoramic cimematography was breathtaking... the "gay" part of the movie was very minor from my perspective...it was primarily a movie about relationships and hteir staying power and long term impact on life.... Ledger's performance was masterful. huffman in transamerica was as good, however.

you aren't kidding...for as much as holyrollers talked it up, i woulda thought it was gonna be a freakin porno, but unfortuantely lots of the makeout scenes were dark and you couldn't see em....

maine has it right... it was mostly about how they were in love w/ eachother but society disallowed them to be together, and jake gets beat up and dies, and they lie about it saying it was a tire that blew up and killed him...'

they coudn't live their own lives b/c of societies disacceptance back then.... and today.

i just say people like klaatu to get a nudge out of him.... if i were talking about satan and worship id say the same thing... 'people like klaatu are satan worshippers' its just a funny dig i do on him all the time....

klattu and WTF why didn't you sign up for the card distribution... im having em professionally made this season...

"because of the reviews attempting to portray the beauty of two guys rolling around in a pup tent.. when one of them had a family at home. "

That's an unimaginably narrow interpretation of the plot & message. People really should actually SEE something before criticizing it.

I like my movies real...not 50's outlooks on how life "should be." Some people are gay. Some people with families have affairs. Some gay people with families have affairs.

Brokeback is just one of many, many such stories...

I think I enjoyed "TransAmerica" a lot more though.

I did too...but I think that ledger's scene when he finds the blood stained shirt after all those years was worth the price of admission. It may be the best bit of "acting" without dialog I have ever seen.

Yeah. That was definitely powerful.

that was the shirt he was looking for after all those years right???

question though, did he die by the flat tire, or did he get his ass kicked by a bunch of guys in a field?? i was confused,

and i didn't like that he was seeing that other guy in TX i thought he only liked heath... i dunno

it's the shirt from the first summer on the mountain that has the bloodstains from the fist fight... and the other question is left to your imagination.

but maine that was the shirt he was looking for in the house wasn't it when they were going fishing??

and come on... that question im still guessing about... did he get beat up in the field and framed to look like he died in a car tire blow out or did he die by the flat tire, and if he got beat up in the field did people just let the killers off b/c they all knew in town he was gay....

Not much to the imagination, there; he clearly got beat up & killed. His wife, and most likely the rest of the Town, knew the details but wanted to go w/ the "flat tire" story, for a variety of reasons.

I thought it went down like Onceler said: he was beaten to death and his family let every believe it was a tire accident.

I think it could have happened either way... and we were meant to not know exactly the answer. It left it open to "Deep Thought" and was supposed to make us think that the movie was even deeper because of the question...

Damo, you really must have fallen asleep at this one. They showed him getting beaten to death...there was absolutely nothing ambiguous about it.
