Should the US become a democracy?

Hmmmm ... I think all States are like that. Do you know of any State that just lets people wander in and cast a Ballot?

I have no idea. The last state I voted in outside of AK was Idaho . I think voter suppression is prevalent there too being a Red state.

Trump won Idaho by 30% due to voter suppression.

face what you are, and be ashamed.

Is that a curse your granny from the old country told your or just another Asshat Legionism?

How big is your face tat? A little atheist circled A or did you go for the full clown face? Something in between? Where will you be on June 26th?

Hmmmm ... this sounds like usual 'Red Team Diversion Tactics'.
So, let's see ... 'somewhere' there are States that let Mexicans wander across the Border and Vote, along with Canadians and whoever else is in the Country at the time.
Check!
And ... you know this because you heard it on Fox News?

(shaking head) I now know why I never heard of the 'MooseCare Health Plan'. (Sad)

. No, honest. The only states I ever voted in are AK, ID and LA. And LA was so long ago I forgot. That was the yr David Duke ran against Edwin Edwards for guv. Edwards won, then went to jail.

.No I don't watch Fox ever since The O'Reilly Factor was booted. Well I did watch some of the Seahawks game on Fox something. It may have been Fox News. Most news I get is from JPP.
I keep hearing that requiring voter Identification is voter suppression here.
.

No, you never heard of Moosecare because you weren't on DCJ.

The system works. You're advocating removing a layer of protection against assholes like Trump.

I'm not sure I follow your reasoning. The electoral college system GAVE us an asshole like Trump once. That's once too many. He was hoping (expecting?) it would happen again - that's what all the ruckus has been about.

If the Presidency was decided by a majority of the popular vote, there isn't a damn thing he could have done unless he could prove fraud on a national scale.

I'm sure you must know all the States that allow just anybody to Vote. You know, where you just walk up and say "Hi. I'm Johnny. I'm here to Vote."
I'm not asking WHERE you Voted. I'm just asking you to rattle off a few States that allow people to Vote without some form of ID.

Can you do that?

Forget for the moment that I have a better chance of walking on the Moon than anyone has of passing an Amendment as you desire. The EC did not give us Trump. There were an entire host of variables in play; both parties were involved, nomination process, Senatorial considerations including VP, corporate interest, etc, etc, etc. A shitload of factors had to fall into place for Trump to even be on the fucking ballot. THEN you blame the EC?

IMHO, there's too much "can see the forest for the trees" going on with our election process. There's a lot more at stake than whichever dipshit party is in the WH. Anyone who doesn't see the importance of the Georgia Senate races should move to the Kiddie side of the room. Note that the election in Georgia is nothing to do with the EC and that anyone who doesn't vote in Georgia can't vote in Georgia. It's out of your hands just like the EC. I like the present system. Tweek it, don't eliminate it.

In Britain that's exactly what happens. You walk in and tell them your name. If it's on the list, they give you a paper ballot to vote. (No fancy voting machines.)

It seems to work. :)

Yeah. How is your name put on the List? Some kind of ID? Or, you can just go to a hundred different places using a hundred different names.
Republicans are claiming there is no verification of who the person is that is Voting. Which is FALSE.

Demokkkrats would NEVER win under that system... They must cheat in order to "win".

FUCK YOU BIRD BRAIN.

The RepubliTARDS must accuse the Democrats of cheating- WHEN THEY LOSE ELECTIONS. BUT THE REPUBLITARDS CAN NEVER WIN BY ACCUSING OTHERS OF CHEATING WITHOUT HAVING PROOF! THIS TACTIC IS CHEATING!

No. Like I said, I get most of my political information from here. I get the distinct impression that Blue Team members consider voter ID requirements to be voter suppression to keep the Black Man down. Is this true? You are a member of the Blue Team aren't you?

The local council maintains a list of residents updated every year or so. When an election is coming they send you a voting card.

But you don't need the card to vote, or any other ID. You just show up and tell the clerk your name. :dunno:

Yes on the Democratic POV, no on Jack being a Democrat AFAIK. Despite our personality differences, we both seem to hang around the center of the puzzle.

Well. I can only speak for myself. I support 'One Man, One Vote' ... which means you only get to have ONE Vote. The only way you can do that is by 'identifying' each Voter so they only vote once. So a Drivers License, a Voters Card, maybe a number tattooed on the arm?

I think your "I get the distinct impression that Blue Team members consider voter ID requirements to be voter suppression to keep the Black Man down" is a Red Team meme. I'm not sure, but I think they use it like 'Rigged Election' to explain why they lose at the Polls. (?)

Well ... that explains Brexit. Thanks. (I can see Havana Moon wearing a different hat as he plies north and south, east and west, voting in each and every Hamlet and Village) :(

Jack takes varies positions depending on the Topic.
Like, after Waco, Jack believes each child born in America should be issued an anti-tank weapon and a surface-to-air missile paid for by the ATF.
It's really the ONLY WAY to make things fair. Let's face it, Rifles are no match up against Battle Tanks and Helicopter Gunships.

OTOH ... Jack supports 'Legalized Weed'.
After surviving the '60s, it's only right that Medicare provide Cannabis and Viagra to it's Seniors.

Servicing those weapons is a beotch. Better to stick with a "Human wave" strategy. Everyone is taught to shoot in school. At 18, everyone who wants one is issued a weapon and qualified with it. over 150M American voters, figure most National Guards would side with their neighbors and the US military would stand down rather than shoot at Americans. Should be an easy walk to the Governor's mansion and then Washington.

Nothing wrong with weed but only at cost, not gratis.

Swell. Tell that to 'Anonymoose', he seems the one convinced people just wander around casting Ballots here and there.

Do you think rightys think things through? They read it in Breitbart and Infowars and it is true. It must now be repeated.
I worked on precincts during voting. People want to do a good job.

We are constantly told by conservatives that the United States is a constitutional republic, not a democracy. Strictly speaking that’s not true. The popular vote decides every elected office at every level EXCEPT the Presidency.

We are told the electoral college was dreamt up to persuade smaller states to accept the Constitution. Otherwise - oh no! - a state such as Rhode Island would have been in danger of being overshadowed by the likes of Virginia or Pennsylvania.

More than two centuries later America is still saddled with this archaic deal, and it’s getting worse. Two out of the past six presidential elections were won by a candidate who lost the popular vote. We The People didn’t want George W Bush (the first time) or Donald J Trump (at all). Now, soon-to-be ex-President Trump is having a two-month sulk because he thinks he should have kept the job after losing both the popular vote AND the electoral college.

Time for a rethink when the system throws up freaks like that.

You think that 30 or more states are going to give up their rights to a small handful of large cities? You need to have your head examined.
