Teach Racial History In Schools?

Redlining and voter repression are happening now. Police abuse of minorities is happening now. Separate and unequal schools are happening now. We tried to end segregation and it has returned.

I'm not sure 'Redlining' is a practice anymore.
'Voter Repression' ... is happening in Red States and is being called out and exposed.
'Police Abuse' ... agree. Where's the fucking national law on this?
'Unequal Schools', ... I see it as a 'Poor/Rich' divide. Poor people go to schools where Poor People live/Rich people go to schools where Rich People live. Universities seem like an equal opportunity venue.

Which is why "CRT" is not taught in primary and secondary public schools, despite the Reichwingers' insistence that it is.

:) hahaha ... that's my view. But Poli is mentioning 'children'. I'm not real sure that is a productive idea. (maybe why no one teaches it outside College?)

Pfft. Only white ppl believe that racism isn't still a thing in the U.S.

Only morons think racism is an issue after 1970.

In fact, it wasn't from 1970 until 2008 and Obama. I could've sworn that would all be over 2 years after he was gone but yet here we are.

It doesn't drive any of my actions, I'll tell you that.

Your drugs are making you delusional and you're saying stupid crap

Yes, it would be very new if it was happening, which it is not. Teaching kids that racism was and is a factor in our national life is not teaching them to hate each other, nor is it meant to make white kids feel guilty. Do you think that teaching that stealing is wrong is creating criminals? Do you think that teaching about human reproduction is going to make kids rush out and try it to see if it works?

Oh yes it is. Slavery was abolished in 1865 and this bullshit is designed to divide Americans by race. Divide and conquer is the goal.

People need to be smarter than to fall for the bullshit. Like we say in Flawda "We all in this thing together heanh, like it or not."

None of this "teaching" occurred from 1970 (Really before that..60s)-2008 and people came out just fine.

Schools were integrated in 1961 here. Before The Civil Rights Act even passed.

The problem today is that racial issues are taught from a monolithic and myopic perspective.

For example, I pose this question to the board: How did indigenous peoples of America interact with European settlers? What was this relationship? You get one paragraph to answer that.

Slaughter, enslavement, and rape.

"Oh Lordy, pick a bale of cotton. Oh Lordy, pick a bale a day."

My First Grade Teacher taught us that song. She would have us stand on our chairs and start singing, then when it came to the "Jump down, turn around, pick a bale of cotton", we would all jump off our chairs, turn around, and 'pick cotton'. hahaha ... when I came down South, I asked some people I was working with if they knew the song, the white guys said 'No'. When they left, the black guy started singing the song.

:)
