2 Louisiana Teachers’ Threesome with HS Student Adds Up to Criminal Charges. Wait, There’s a Twist.

Two Louisiana high school teachers have been arrested and suspended from their jobs for having sex — including a threesome with a student after a school football game.

Shelley Dufresne, who’s a 33-year-old mother of three (left), and Rachel Respess, who is 23 years old (right), taught English at Destrehan High School in St. Charles Parish, but apparently their lesson plans included a bit more than the Common Core Curriculum requires. Dufresne is accused of having sex with the 16-year-old victim twice, and Respess “only” once.

A South Carolina teacher has been forced to resign after a student shared her naked picture with his classmates.

Leigh Anne Arthur said that her school district bosses in Union County told her to quit her job after the unidentified student found the photo.

The district’s David Eubanks told WYFF that the 13-year teaching veteran was at fault for leaving her phone unlocked on her desk when she went out of the room, making the pics available to her students.

He said that the engineering teacher’s actions may have contributed to the delinquency of a minor.

The student reportedly took a picture of Arthur’s snap with his own phone before saying that he would send it along to any of his classmates that wanted to see their teacher’s private image.

Educators convicted of inappropriate relationships or abuse of students often plead down from more serious charges and rarely serve more than a year in prison, an investigation has found.

Legal officials say the convictions did what they were designed to do — hold teachers accountable and keep dangerous educators out of classrooms.

"The bottom line is sometimes a plea is necessary. Every single case can't go to trial. If every single case went to trial our system would collapse. We have too many," said Alex Duros, an assistant district attorney.

Michael Burman, a former teacher at Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, was charged with 10 counts of sexual assault by school staff and 10 counts of child enticement.

He had a relationship with a 17-year-old student that included more than 70 sexual encounters, many of which happened at school, the criminal complaint said.

Burman faced more than 300 years in prison for the 20 felonies. Instead, he took a plea deal, and was convicted on two counts of causing mental harm to a child. Eight counts of sexual assault of a student by school staff and 10 counts of child enticement were dismissed and read into the record at his sentencing.
Burman received six months in jail, was ordered to pay restitution and was placed on probation for five years. The girl involved in the case testified in court and shed tears when she heard the terms of Burman's sentence.

Burman isn't the only former educator to make waves and fade quietly into the background afterward.

A judge dismissed charges against Emily L. Patterson, a former teacher and girls' soccer coach. Patterson was charged with sex assault of a student by school staff after she had a relationship with a 16-year-old girl on the soccer team. She was no longer a coach when the case began. The judge dismissed the charge because she wasn't a school employee or volunteer as defined by state statute.

Dashcam video has been released by the Florida Highway Patrol in the arrest of a South Florida woman accused of driving drunk on Interstate 95 with her toddler asleep in the backseat.

"Please don't arrest me! Please!" Colleen Loughman, 43, of Boynton Beach, is heard screaming in the video.

Loughman, a middle school teacher, drove several miles without one of her tires, troopers said.

At times in the video it appears as it Loughman thinks the whole incident is a joke, and she even poses for the dashcam at one point.

But as reality starts to set in, Loughman begs the trooper for mercy.

"Please! Please! I'm a teacher. I can't get arrested," she said.

According to the affidavit, Loughman had bloodshot and glossy eyes. Troopers said her appearance was very disheveled and her front zipper was also down.

According to the report, the interior of the vehicle was also messy with paperwork, open food and yogurt poured all over.

Loughman was released from jail after posting bond and refused to speak to Local 10 News.

"Please leave me alone," Loughman repeated as she covered her face and walked away.

The report said Loughman admitted to drinking two beers and taking three Xanax pills and a Zoloft pill before getting behind the wheel of her SUV.

Court records show that Loughman was arrested on a DUI charge in 2009 in Palm Beach County.
