A Seminole County teacher is accused of showing up to a classroom intoxicated on Tuesday morning.

Sanford police say a school resource officer at Bentley Elementary School was contacted by a staffer who said that teacher Holly Joel, age 52, was possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The resource officer said the school’s principal was in the classroom and had asked Joel to stand up and Joel fell and hit a nearby window. Students were then removed from the classroom.

A deputy responded to the school and asked Joel if she know what day it was and she responded “Monday”.

The principal told the deputy “Her speech was slurred and she smelled of alcohol.” The deputy said that Joel had a water bottle that contained a pink liquid that smelled like alcohol when he opened it.

Joel was arrested on charges of child neglect, disorderly intoxication and disturbing the peace/interfering with school administration functions.

A teacher molested one of his fourth-grade students several times as she stood by his desk during class, according to charges filed Wednesday.

Johnsville Elementary teacher Kenneth L. Sonnenfeld Jr., 52, of Oak Grove, was charged in Anoka County District Court with second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Sonnenfeld remains jailed ahead of a court hearing scheduled for Thursday.

After charges were filed, the Anoka-Hennepin School District placed Sonnenfeld, a math and science teacher, on administrative leave.

The Sheriff’s Office was notified that Sonnenfeld molested the girl in each of the instances, including once under her underclothing, as he helped her with her school work as she stood next to his desk while class was in session.

The touching prompted her to stop seeking help from Sonnenfeld. She decided to tell someone about the molestations “so that her chest and stomach wouldn’t hurt anymore,” the complaint read.

A teacher at Hancock High School has been arrested on a charge of sexual battery involving a student who was not in one of his classes, an investigator said.

Derek Beaushaw, 31, of Waveland, was arrested and booked at the Hancock County jail. His bond has been set at $25,000.

The alleged incident did not happen on the school campus, said Glenn Grannan, Hancock County sheriff's chief investigator.

An Algebra teacher at Central High Freshman Academy in Phenix City is accused of having sex with a student.

Jeannie Shiver, 37, was arrested and charged with "school employee engaging in a sex act" and deviant sexual intercourse with a student under the age of 19 years, police stated in a release.

A Judson High School teacher is behind bars Thursday morning after confessing to lewd conduct with at least ten boys.

The suspect is 28-year-old Jared Anderson. He teaches high school English and was also a group leader at a local church.

Anderson hosted parties at his house on several occasions and invited teenage boys. One of these parties happened February 12th with seven boys ranging from 15 to 17 years old.

There was a sign on the door reading, "The last one to strip naked loses."

Police say Anderson coerced them into lewd conduct. Police also say Anderson and another 17-year-old boy exchanged pictures of each others' genitals.

A Gainesville teacher who teaches at two schools, is in jail in Columbia County. He’s accused of trying to solicit an underage girl.

David Austin O’Neill is locked up in Columbia County facing felony charges, arrested Saturday, after Deputies say he tried to lure a child online. He is 33, she was 16.

The School District confirms O’Neill is a teacher at Abraham Lincoln Middle School and Howard Bishop Middle.

The Wilkes-Barre Area School District is investigating alcohol-related activity on a bus trip to a boys basketball game following the arrest of a district teacher involved in a motor-vehicle crash.

Christopher Gray, a Dodson Elementary School teacher and the girls basketball coach at Meyers High School, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. Charges are pending the results of blood-alcohol testing, according to a Wilkes-Barre police report.

This all comes after five other school district employees at the GAR Junior-Senior High School were suspended after allegations they violated the school's drug and alcohol policy less than two weeks ago.

A Bronx middle-school teacher rattled her students — including one who was near tears — by showing an ISIS video of a terrorist beheading a journalist, documents show.

South Bronx Academy for Applied Media veteran Alexiss Nazario faced termination, but was let off with a $300 fine after acknowledging she made a mistake by not previewing the clip or getting the principal’s permission.

Investigators spoke to three eighth-graders who were freaked out by the macabre clip, which showed a masked man holding a knife to the neck of a kneeling *victim clad in orange.

The students testified that the video blacked out the actual beheading but showed its gruesome aftermath: the man’s severed head placed on top of his own chest.

Sent to a “rubber room” for alleged improper conduct with a student, this teacher just couldn’t keep his hands off himself.

A Delaware teacher sent over 11,000 sexual text messages to a 13-year-old boy she taught.

Nicole Veneroso, 32, appeared in raunchy photos and videos the boy’s mother found on his cell phone and showed to officials with Appoquinimink School District, about 50 miles southwest of Philadelphia, according to charging documents.

The victim confided to a friend that he had phone sex with Veneroso and received topless pictures from her.

An Austin Independent School District school teacher has been arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography.

According to AISD spokesperson Tiffany Young, district officials were informed Friday that Joe Martinez, a music teacher from Rodriquez Elementary School, has been arrested by Austin Police for possession of child pornography, a third degree felony.

Young says, all activities occurred off campus, but AISD Police will be conducting additional investigations.

Escambia County deputies arrested Lincoln Park Primary School kindergarten teacher assistant Brenda Morris on Thursday for allegedly committing child abuse on a developmentally delayed child. Morris was released shortly after booking.

The State Attorney’s Office charged the 68-year-old Morris with one count of child abuse without great bodily harm, which is classified as a third-degree felony.

"She was alleged to have touched the child in an illegal manner, which may constitute child abuse," said Greg Marcille, assistant state attorney.

A teacher with the Chippewa Falls School District was arrested on suspicion of having sexual contact with a student, according to the Chippewa Falls Police Department.

Middle School science teacher Joel C. Jahnke, 28, was taken into custody and brought to the Chippewa County Jail. Judge Steven Cray set a $10,000 signature bond for Jahnke.

Cray ordered Jahnke to have no unsupervised contact with juvenile females or schools. He is not to possess electronic devices capable of data transmission.

Jahnke is scheduled to next appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5.

Charges being recommended against Jahnke are: sexual assault of a child by school staff; second degree sexual assault of a child; sexual exploitation of a child; and child enticement. Whether any charge is filed is up to the Chippewa County District Attorney’s office.

The allegations stem from a single incident at the middle school with Jahnke, a seventh-grade teacher, and an eighth-grade student during the 2014-15 school year.

A 57-year-old teacher at Buddy West Elementary School, accused of drinking alcohol in her vehicle during a break from teaching, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication at 11:15 a.m. Friday.

Lynette Smith, 57, 11080 W. 23rd St., was being held Friday at the Ector County Detention Center on a $297 bond.
