The Trinity

Bingo. For whatever reason, John needed the divinity of Jesus from the get go. That doesn’t jive very well with the characterization in Mark, Matthew, Luke.
IIRC, John was also the last book written so it figures it'd build on the others as far as the mythology.

Good one. The next question would be “Why the need for 3 of them? Where there only 2 before Jesus came on the scene?”

what was "before he came on the scene"?.....

John 1
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning. 3Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. 4In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

In Gospel of John, Jesus insinuates he is coeternal with God. His physical body was ephemeral, but not Christ.

I think it's interesting that it wasn't until the Gospel of John that Jesus was identified as coequal and coeternal with God

this is why Christians pay no attention when atheists tell us what we believe......

beats ignoring what the Bible says while telling us what the Bible says.....that's the standard atheist tactic.......

The mental gymnastics your poor fucks go through to believe the stories is astounding. In your case, the mental part of it is a stretch.

The “word” is Jesus? Fuck o’ dear. John was desperate to get divinity to Jesus, wasn’t he? Even though Jesus himself never claimed it.

Tell us about Jesus being born in Bethlehem and why.

The “word” is Jesus? .

this why it is a waste of time discussing Christianity with people who know nothing about it........yes......every Christian understands that the Word is Jesus.......

they also don't need it explained that....

Tell us about Jesus being born in Bethlehem and why.
you already know he was and why, its simply that you don't believe it......why should I waste my time repeating things you siimply deny?.....

The way I heard it is that Luke and Matthew had Jesus born in Bethlehem for theological reasons. Being born in Bethlehem had prophetic implications.

The problem with English translations of the Bible is that English words don't always do justice to the original Greek. Logos has different shades of meaning in Greek. It can mean 'word'. But it can also mean principle or underlying rational reason. In Greek philosophy and early Christian theology, Logos meant a divine underlying principle to the cosmos.

Gospel of John comes across more philosohical and theological than the synoptic Gospels which never clearly indicate Jesus is coequal and coeternal with God the Father.

Yes, you're right, it is theology, not history

Of course he wasn’t born in Bethlehem, Buford. Your gospel writers needed him to be to fulfill OT prophecy.

But, you are unable to either grasp it or accept it. Which is it?

Yep. He needed to be born there to fulfill OT prophecy. How frickin many people would have been there who were descendants of David? 10s of thousands?
