The Trinity

rofl......and if you deny the existence of soccer balls should we pay attention to what you say?.........its not scary discussing faith with you.......just boring........

Your lack of interest in the history of the faith you hold so dear is interesting. Makes one wonder exactly how important it actually is to you.

You claim to be both a lawyer and have a master's in theology yet most of your posts are 9th grade level insults? What happened? Did you hit your head driving drunk? Have a stroke? Drown and was down under a little too long before resuscitation?

This should be a good one for the Bible literalists to explain.

What is this Trinity thing? Is it polytheism or not? When did the NT authors come up with that concept and why? Wasn’t just a single god sufficient? What’s the need for three? Can’t one god handle all its responsibilities?

There are quite a few bizarre concepts in the Bible, but this one is near the top. May be number one!

Trinity is the three dimensions of YHWH
Father ,Son and Holy Spirit

worthless opinions like yours are WHY I don't bother discussing the opinions of the JPP atheists......

Not what the Christians say. They claim three separate beings, one god.
Priests used the three leaf clover to explain it to us, one stem, three seperate leaves . One God with three seperate beings.

I got in trouble for asking if god had a split personality! :)

Good one. The next question would be “Why the need for 3 of them? Where there only 2 before Jesus came on the scene?”

In Gospel of John, Jesus insinuates he is coeternal with God. His physical body was ephemeral, but not Christ.

I think it's interesting that it wasn't until the Gospel of John that Jesus was identified as coequal and coeternal with God

Bingo. For whatever reason, John needed the divinity of Jesus from the get go. That doesn’t jive very well with the characterization in Mark, Matthew, Luke.

I think it took about three centuries for christians to decide what the meaning and significance of Jesus' life was. Even at the time of the gospels in the first century it was an open question.

It appears it was only SOME Christians that dictated to the others. I believe that continues to this day in the dogmas of the institutions. So damaging to the real message.

I was a 6th grader when I made the split personality comment. I was in trouble a lot that year, but first heard the analogy when I was eight, the age of reason, when all good Catholics learn the Catechism.

Gospel of John was written well after the earliest gospel of Mark, and independently of the other synoptic gospels.
It had a different purpose and agenda.

The Christian sects that emphasized Jesus' humanity, or taught that his divinity was lesser than God the father suppressed. Although I think I read there are still small amounts of Nestorian christians in Asia
