Trump's 757 Grounded - Needs Expensive Repairs

Hefner knew his place, and kept to it. trump nearly destroyed America.

Not sure about "knew his place". Trump certainly tried, but like most things in his life, he failed there too. He's a fucking loser.

When this is all over, I hope all he can afford to fly is a kite from the Dollar General.

By all means let us talk about 757-200 years of use and take-off/landing cycles and compare that to what other planes have managed before they are sent to the graveyard!

It's parts that are costly. The fact it's not flying yesterday says Trump doesn't want it to fly for some reason.

You know, if this was a commercial airliner that was needed, the plane would be up and running in a week.

Trump has claimed he will have the plane back in the air by the end of the year.

But he didn't say which year...............................

757? Seriously?

That's like a fucking cruise ship in the air. The problem probably lies with getting the engines because Rolls-Royce is having some kind of problems in Italy.

I know, I know..UK company, but they have something in Italy that's under fire.

Trump couldn't have just the normal rich man's jet.. Just think think about all the crew that has to be paid to run that.

The 'normal" rich man's jet takes a crew of 4-5.

I forget what the model of plane is called, but I've been on one, and they also have Rolls-Royce engines, but smaller than a 757.

The aircraft requires just a pilot and copilot for crew. Ground services used are typical for jets of any size...lav service, fuel service, maybe catering service.

He probably can afford that.

I've seen Trump park 2 mega-cranes on a property for 7 mos and all he had was the option to buy.

We’ll see by 2024. Right now the plane appears to be in New York. I wonder if the NY AG will put a hold on it leaving the state once Trump pays to make it flyable again and before going to Lake Charles for a paint job.

What failure?

I said "stench of failure." There is a lot of failure that goes into that, so you are not completely wrong. I will explain to you again, but this will probably be the last time.

Any airline that bought a cheap plane to purchase, but an expensive plane to operate would be under capitalized. They would hope that operating revenue would make up for their lack of capital, but the last 30 years of airline operating revenue has been very tough. That means most airlines that went with 757's are bankrupt.

Now here is the kicker: with perfectly working 757's going for $6 million, a lot of people who are not extremely rich, but want to seem extremely rich, have bought them. That is describing a con artist, so many of those people default on their loans, and investments.

You see a 757, my advise is to run away.

They started producing 737's over half a century ago, and they are still producing versions of it. They produced the 757 for less than half the time, and almost no one is still flying it. The 757's are being sent to the graveyard decades before their bodies ran out.

Lots of RR and GE engine types out there. Upgrading to modern engines is expensive, but only worth the cost if the plane flies a lot each month.

A rich man's jet takes two pilots and at least one, if not two, flight attendants/cabin crew members. In Trump's case, he'd be best served if somebody was a nurse since halfway across the Atlantic and having a medical emergency with an old geezer is not good for the geezer unless someone is medically trained.

Additionally, since they are not robots, the crew members need days off even if they don't fly much since standing duty 24/7 at Trump's beck and call is not only unsafe, but impractical since people will quit for better jobs. This means 2-3 Captains, 2-3 First Officers, 2-3 Flight Attendant/medically qualified and 2-3 Flight Attendants. Average pays would be 150K-200K each for the Captains, 90K-100K for the First Officers, 50K-60K for the FA/Medical and 30K-40K for the FA. That's a lot of money to have people just sitting around waiting to see if Trump or Melania wants to fly to the Riviera.

As most American should know, "If it flies, floats or fucks, it's cheaper to rent". Trump is using this airplane as a multimillion dollar status symbol at a time when he might soon be hemorrhaging money with legal bills for himself and his adult kids.

Leasing or fractional ownership is the smarter way to go, but not as much of a status symbol. ;)

Hello Walt,

trump is losing a lot of money, and he has no obvious money making opportunities in the future. he may well regret spending money on a type of plane everyone else is throwing away.

But what would he replace it with? Buying a new plane would be more expensive.

Buying an old Mexican airliner that is low price but high operation cost might be easy to get into, but if you can't keep the money stream coming to run it then it could end up parked on a tarmac somewhere.

Sounds like the decision of someone who doesn't really know what to do with money or how to manage it in the long run.

Penny wise, pound foolish.

Hello tigerred59,

Relax, the man's got 72 million ignorant followers with enough disability checks to not only git his plane back in the air, but enough suckers to pay for the gas too. The die hard trailer trash ingrates are nothing but bottom feeders for Trump and human ATM cash cows.

Oh, well, it's not quite that bad, but not far from the mark. I think more and more people are getting wise to his scam and that's why the plane is now parked.

Pilots love the 757 because it has a great power to weight ratio compared to a 737. It's also a prettier airplane.

Unfortunately, the fucking bean counters don't give a shit about power to weight ratios or attractiveness. They consider the economics of the aircraft over a year. The 737 is much more economical and the aircraft many pilots consider to be the equivalent of a beautiful woman with long legs and big tits is going to the graveyard. In comparison, the 737 is equal to a woman truck driver.

This isn't Apples to Apples, but it's close:

The average hourly rental rate of the Boeing 757-200 is around 18,000 USD per hour.

Operating costs. Estimates are that operating A380s costs between $26,000 and $29,000 per hour. By contrast, an average flight on an American Airlines 737-800, which can hold 160-175 passengers and has a range of about 2,900 miles, costs $2,180 per hour.

Hello Walt,

You can get $20 million for a 757-200ER, or a particularly well setup 757-200. A typical 757-200 would get you $6 to $10 million, if you could find a buyer. Finding a buyer for 757-200's is not easy these days. A particularly run down 757-200, like trump's, is going for scrap.

Of course, trump cannot sell or scrap his plane. he needs a big plane, to claim to be rich. And he cannot afford a new big plane. That means he is stuck with the 757-200 for as long as he can afford to keep it flight worthy.

That's why he never painted his name on the side of his Cessna. Wrong image. He can't have pics of a smaller plane with his name on it. With him, everything has to be bigger. Like his ego.

Leave it to Trump to go for flash and be stuck with no cash.
