A Virginia Tech freshman was arrested in the disappearance and death of a 13-year-old girl following a four-day search that ended in North Carolina, authorities said.

The body of Nicole Madison Lovell was found around 4 p.m. Saturday along a highway 57 miles south of the college campus in Blacksburg, hours after authorities nabbed cross-country student-athlete David E. Eisenhauer, 18.

The Virginia Tech student charged with killing teen Nicole Madison Lovell knew the girl and an investigation shows that he used that relationship to abduct her before disposing of her body with the assistance of another Tech student, police said Sunday.

Blacksburg police announced the second Tech student’s arrest, one day after Tech freshman David Edmond Eisenhauer, 18, of Columbia, Maryland, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and abduction. Lovell’s remains were discovered Saturday in Surry County, North Carolina.

The second Tech student, Natalie Marie Keepers, 19, of Laurel, Maryland, was arrested Sunday morning and faces a felony charge of improper disposal of a body and a separate misdemeanor charge of accessory after the fact in the commission of a felony, Blacksburg police Lt. Mike Albert said at a news conference.

Both are being held without bond in the Montgomery County jail, Albert said.

A man allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl in Springfield Township while he had a pending court case open for failing to register as a sex offender from a previous offense.

According to Springfield Township police, James Edward Lane allegedly tried to pursue a relationship with the minor, which ultimately ended in the rape offense.

Lisa M. Soest of Imperial, Mo., has been charged with felony obstruction of justice and felony disorderly conduct.

Collinsville police said Soest was booked Thursday and then released on bond.

Soest reported that she was raped in the early-morning hours of Feb. 4 on the parking lot of the nightclub. She told police she went outside for some fresh air when she began talking to a male. The male began trying to kiss her, but she declined his advances, she told police. The man then pulled her into a vehicle and sexually assaulted her, the woman told police.

The woman described her attacker as a “clean-cut” male in his mid-20s with dark hair and sleeve tattoos.

Collinsville police Major Brett Boerm said detectives interviewed numerous people and followed numerous tips, but statements given by Soest and those given by individuals she was with at the club didn’t add up. He declined to comment on what would motivate the woman to make a false report.

Soest sent out a tweet in the early-morning hours of Feb. 4, in which she mentioned being “kicked out of a bar so that’s how my night is going.” She sent out a second tweet saying she was “locked outside in the cold because these security guards suck butt.”

A 14-year-old Pennsylvania girl accused of plotting with her soldier boyfriend to kill her mother pleaded guilty in a deal with prosecutors.

Jamie Silvonek will be sentenced to 35 years to life in prison, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office said.

As part of the deal, Silvonek pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. She will be eligible for parole after serving 35 years.

Silvonek, who was charged as an adult, was accused of conspiring with 21-year-old Army Spc. Caleb Barnes via text to kill her mother in the driveway of her home near Allentown last March, after the three returned from a concert.

Barnes stabbed 54-year-old Cheryl Silvonek, then he and the teenager ate at a restaurant and went shopping for gloves, bleach and other cleaning supplies, authorities said.

Barnes’s trial is set for April 11. He is charged with homicide, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and conspiracy.

Authorities said Barnes and Jamie Silvonek met in October 2014, when she was 13.

A lawyer says the wife of a Georgia man accused of intentionally leaving his toddler son to die in a hot SUV is seeking a divorce.

Attorney Lawrence Zimmerman said in an emailed statement that Leanna Harris has filed for divorce. Zimmerman said it’s a private matter and he won’t comment further.

Justin Ross Harris is accused of leaving 22-month-old Cooper to die. He’s been held without bond since then on multiple charges, including murder. He’s set for trial in April.

His attorneys have called the death "a tragic accident".

Police have said Harris was unhappy in his marriage and exchanged sexually explicit messages with multiple women, including an underage teen.

A New Mexico man is facing battery charges after police said he repeatedly hit his mother with a Bible following a prayer session.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports Ryan Dailey was arrested shortly after police say his mother escaped her son’s beating and called police from a neighbor’s house.

According to court documents, Dailey’s mother told officers she and her son were praying Saturday when Dailey began yelling at his mother, asking her who owned her soul. Court documents say Dailey then started hitting his mother with a Bible and refused to let her leave.

Court documents stated Dailey’s mother was hit several times in her back and head.

Dailey was charged with battery.

An Orange County couple was ordered to pay $5.7 million for planting drugs in the car of a former PTA president in a failed bid to have her arrested.

A jury made the award to Kelli Peters. The Superior Court panel deliberated less than an hour before finding that Kent Easter of Irvine and his ex-wife, Jill Easter, acted with malice, oppression or fraud.

Police and the FBI said they finally caught a man suspected of robbing as many as seven banks in the Seattle area, always wearing a fake beard.

His name: Christian N. Franzwa. Cops nicknamed him “Beardo.”

The robberies unfolded at banks in Everett between June and December, investigators say. In addition to the fake beard, the suspect always wore a nose covering and glasses, Q13 Fox reported.

Franzwa, 57, would typically flash a gun or suggest that he was holding one before demanding cash from a teller, police say.

A Wabash College fundraiser was suspected of killing his niece and her 4-year-old son in Zionsville before taking his own life.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office reports the suspect's motive was "strictly for financial gain, from a family trust." The statement from the sheriff's office says the trust involved millions of dollars and its details are being investigated.

Ty Anthony Peters, of Buffalo, was arrested Thursday. Investigators say Peters sexually assaulted a 12-year-old.

Peters is awaiting trial for criminal sexual conduct with a minor charge from October 2015.

You should be honest about things and show black people that have committed crimes since the incarceration rate for them is 3x greater than their proportion in society. You could post their pictures but people would confuse their pictures with monkeys from the zoo.

Christopher Andrews was distraught by the death of his mother two weeks before he beat and stabbed his family.

Police are still investigating what led Andrews, described by friends as “squeaky clean,” to unleash his fury on wife, Kathleen, 12- and 15-year-old sons and 13-year-old daughter at 22 Mount Laurel Road.

It could take several weeks before an autopsy can determine whether medication played a role in his attack.

Fairfield police officer Sean Fenton encountered Andrews standing in his driveway, clutching a bloody knife. The cop pointed his gun at him and ordered him to drop the knife, but Andrews ignored the order and moved forward, police sources told the paper.

Fenton stepped back but was blocked by a snow bank before again ordering Andrews to drop the weapon. After the man again refused, Fenton opened fire.

A rampaging gunman turned a Michigan city into a killing field late Saturday as he randomly opened fire on innocent and defenseless people during a bloody night time drive.

The gunman killed six people and wounded another in a rolling crime scene that spanned a 12-mile swath of terror across Kalamazoo, a southwestern Michigan city 130 miles west of Detroit.
