This comes from tax dollars and I'm all for it. When I was investing I gave 10% of my earnings every year to charity - directly. Thats in addition to regular church contributions. (like many many others). I volunteer at soup kitchens, etc.

But this bald faced hatred for business and "rich" people has got to stop. It will not because there is big business in it. Ha! there's an irony. So where does it end. Well, I think we know where it ends.....and news flash....in that kind of ending....there is only destruction.

"those who keep the economy running" are the consumers. Your rich business owners don't invest in anything that there's no demand for. Consumer spending is what drives the economy.

The whole point of the topic is to fill in some of the holes in capitalism with socialism, not to go fully socialist.

It was actually, I think, from East Germany or one of the other state-capitalist dependencies, probably Poland. What has State Capitalism to do with the discussion?

Everybody has the basics, some have more, a few have way more. It's all good. Our economy produces plenty of wealth to do that. And that automatically makes America great. No life left behind.

I've attended both public and very expensive private schools.
There's absolutely no difference in how the constitution is taught, one to the other.
Schools are not to blame.
Lack of education is to blame.

The tiny percentage of people who actually benefit from Republican policy are influenced by their profit motives, not their education.
They have one vote each which doesn't amount to a lot.
Their power is their ability to convince seriously stupid people to vote directly against their own best economic interests.
For that, they use a lot of perverse approaches like racism, religion, xenophobia, and misogyny.

Good education, public or private*, mitigates against that.
And that's why the oligarchs want to limit the best educational opportunities to themselves.
With an educated proletariat, they're totally fucked.
