Unless you're a victim of systematic disenfranchisement by corrupt political authorities, i think it is safe to say that we all enjoy an election. Our new Prime Minister, the one who isn't Tony Blairs, has been stoking up the possibility of holding a "snap election", which sounds even better than an ordinary election, right kids? Apparently it would be his chance to "seek a mandate" (calm down Republican politicians, it's not what you think).

All the plans were going smoothly up until last week: the public had been impressed with the statesmanlike way in which Mr Browns had dealt with the trials of office; the economy hadn't gone down the toilet yet; and the populace was backing Labour with a massive 12 point lead in the opinion polls. Clearly an election would be "good" for the country.

Then a posh man Tory man stood up and made a speech promising to cut taxes, the polls swung rapidly in the opposite direction resulting in a 4 point Labour deficit. On Saturday the PM ruled out any snap poll this year. Clearly an election would be "bad" for the country.

So, it looks as though you in America are likely to experience the adrenaline rush and rapid heart-beat of election fever before us. Damn, i was so looking forward to a brand new administration taking over and implementing exactly the same policies as had just been rejected. I feel cheated.

In reality the War on Children seems to be failing miserably. There seems to be more of them every day, while the nation appears to be losing interest. I blame it on the Pro-Children Media and channels like Nickelodeon... They are a bane to society and should be replaced with soft-porn channels and mud-wrestling.
