Can you think of a more welcoming greeting, even if uttered in sinister Germanic tones, more familiar to students studying the Nuremburg War Crimes Tribunals? No, i didn't think so. Well, i hope you're all going to be in Sydney, Australia, around mid-June for World Youth Day, organized by the Catholic Church. The creepy Pope is going to be there and everything.
They seem to be making a real effort to connect with youth, using new fangled media solutions such as computerised socialist networking and word phone exchanging.

"We're setting up a Facebook style site where priests and young people can just hang out, chat, and exchange pictures in a relaxed informal atmosphere" said one priest returning from a shopping trip carrying a digital camera and a bottle of olive oil. "It's all above board i assure you. There may be some snaps of some priests in their Speedo's, holidaying in Thailand, but there's nothing wrong with that is there?"
Some parents have raised concerns about the site, given recent scandals, but a Vatican spokesman was at pains to point out the majority of priests did not harbour lustful thoughts for children - "Say that there are about 400,000 Catholic priests worldwide and something like 5% of those were paedophiles. That would mean that, when you think about it, there are probably only around 20,000 priests with an unhealthy interest in children."
So if you're in Australia during the Summer and you receive a text asking if you'd like to pop down the the local Church to kneel down and touch the priest's hassocks. Don't be alarmed it's just the Pope being friendly.
