Where Do Confederate Monuments Go After They Come Down?

and a war over it (and other reasons the Civil War was fought in the United States) should never be repeated.

How do monuments to Confederates do that, though? Wouldn't monuments to the Union soldiers only accomplish the same goal?

For the final time, you will never remove any of the monuments at Gettysburg National Military Park.

You say that...but things change. Even though the monuments are stone and metal, then can be torn down.

But tearing them down will mean you won't be able to remember who lost the Civil War, I guess.

Now you are saying that I started the Civil War? I don't live in the South, and, I was not alive in the 1860's. You should consider taking a break. That vein in your forehead is pulsing. Do you have attendance figures for black people visiting Gettysburg?

You don't get to run away from your shitty argument now, you loser.

You advocate flushing history down the memory hole. That is my objection to removing the statues of one side of the conflict from Gettysburg

So before, when you argued it wasn't about forgetting who lost the Civil War, that was just you trolling because you say right here that you need these monuments to remember history.

It has nothing to do with the ad hominem (which you aren't very good at) thrown at me, trying to make something stick.

So to recap:

I asked that if the monuments are removed, you'll forget who lost the Civil War

You screeched that was a fallacy.

Then you come right back in virtually the very next post and argue that you need these monuments to remember history.

So if the monuments are removed, what historical lesson will be lost?

LOL!

Andrew Johnson was impeached.

So you want to preserve monuments to traitors who lost because they were eventually pardoned by a President who was later impeached?

The bar seems very low.

But not removed from office but nice try.

You said the statues didn't remind us of slavery but you say they intimidate black people sorry but that is a contradition. You are a racist trying to justify your hatred.

Your glorification of people who fought to preserve slavery isn't remembering slavery. It's glorifying the people who fought to preserve it.

You're just making a disingenuous argument now because you have no legitimate ones left.

Maybe take something for your memory loss; if a statue is the only way you can remember history, then you probably have a medical condition.

expected from you. The Confederates were trying to destroy America. They were trying to rip the union apart. The statues were not about that. They were built much later as monuments to hating blacks and keeping them down. May as well have a monument for lynching and Jim Crow laws. Slavery will not be white washed. It will be remembered in books and movies. You are wrong.

I love your revisionist history. I take it American history wasn't one of your better subjects.

I was paying attention. You advocate flushing history down the memory hole.

No, I don't. Why are you lying like a $4 gutter whore?
That is my objection to removing the statues of one side of the conflict from Gettysburg.

No, your objection is due to the fact that you honor treason and traitors.
It has nothing to do with the ad hominem (which you aren't very good at) thrown at me, trying to make something stick.

Yawn. When you lie like you do, why squeal like a pig when someone calls you a 'liar'?

You don't seem to be terribly good at this.

So about that fucking douchebag....

First, he screeched about asking him if he would forget who lost the Civil War if the monuments to Confederates were taken down. Then in virtually the next post, he argues that we have to keep the monuments for fear of forgetting history.

So he obviously needs these statues, otherwise he will have no idea who won the Civil War.

Yeah, I noticed that. He seems really off-balance and quite confused about how to make a rational (and honest) point.

You can't seem to come up with a good reason as to why any of these monuments should be around.

Not one.

You're too busy being obnoxious to pay attention.

To move on, let me say that I don't care about monuments in some city square. I do care about places like Gettysburg. It appears that you only want one side of the story told.

Would you like to see Monticello destroyed because Jefferson was a slave owner? Do you want Mount Vernon destroyed because Washington owned slaves? Or do you justify those two because they were "good" slave owners?
