No. It was intended to prevent a tyrannical government from controlling the masses. An armed populace does two things; prevent tyranny and defend borders and property. Try to be less ignorant.

But does the large standing army negate the need for regular people to be armed in the event that they are needed to form a militia in the face of foreign invasion?
You said in an earlier post to me that if you disarm the public then a tyrannical government will be able to control them. But this country's government with its army could easily control the public if they so desired, with or without their little hunting rifles.
