Why was 2nd amendment written?

Wrong way around. We don't need the large standing army we have. We certainly don't need to be the ones protecting say Europe for example.

Trump had this one right...

So do you think the US should greatly reduce its standing army, and military and just keep the public heavily armed?

The incoming Biden-Harris Administration is confident that an expanded Supreme Court will be able to reverse the disastrous Heller ruling.

Intelligent people understand that there is no "right" to privately-owned firearms.

Feel free to try and take mine if that is what you believe.

I think if those of you that hate the 2nd amendment don't think people should own guns that you should personally try to take them from us.

So you support people owning AR 15s and AK47s, something you left wingers incorrectly call assault weapons?
Yes, if you attend a class to be licensed and get a background check, I know boys and girls like to practice with these types of weapons. I feel ownership is fine for a mentally healthy adult.

In other words, you don't support the 2nd amendment.

You don't get to set the standard, cunt.

Vice President-elect Harris has made her position on the gun control debate clear.

She has urged our president-elect to sign an executive order mandating comprehensive background checks for customers of any firearms dealer who sells more than five guns a year,

If Congress doesn't take appropriate action within the first 100 days after Inauguration to stem the flood of legal firearms that has plagued America for centuries, the Biden-Harris Administration will take action to close the boyfriend loophole and ban assault weapons.

Under a national red flag mandate, no one who exhibits anti-social behavior would be allowed to own, purchase, or transfer any gun, ammunition, or weapon.

Reduce the standing army while increasing the reserve and national guard components and retaining a strong air force and navy. The latter two are technical services that need years of training and production to raise. You can raise Army units in a matter of a year or so and train them. The US doesn't particularly face invasion as a threat so no, we don't need a huge standing army. We could produce the equipment for one and store it instead. Make the Army primarily about training technicians and specialists along with smaller elite combat units for overseas expeditionary purposes. Technicians and specialists who are in skilled fields are harder to train in a short time.

Firearms have never "plagued" the US. The only plague the US faces is the one from Leftist politics. As for firearms, they aren't the problem. Criminals and losers with guns--mostly in places with strict gun control already--are the problem. It's also interesting that "assault weapons" are almost never used in criminal acts. It's usually pistols that are the weapon of choice. Just goes to show us that you know zip point shit about firearms or their use.

President-elect Biden has a record of favoring gun control.

Since President-elect Biden selected Vice President-elect Harris as his running mate, the two have merged their platforms on the issue of gun control.

President-elect Biden has long touted his record as a successful adversary to the National Rifle Association.

In 1993, President-elect Biden (then a Delaware senator) was a key actor in the passing of the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, which established our existing background check system.

Then, the following year, he also helped enact legislation that restricted the sales of guns like the AK-47 rifle for 10 years.

President-elect Biden has a record of favoring gun control.

He also has a record of actually doing absolutely nothing on gun control... That is, he's all hat, no cattle, as they say in Texas.

Since President-elect Biden selected Vice President-elect Harris as his running mate, the two have merged their platforms on the issue of gun control.

So, now you have two people talking smack about gun control that'll do nothing...

President-elect Biden has long touted his record as a successful adversary to the National Rifle Association.

Define successful. If that means Biden is on record as opposing the NRA, you might be correct. On the other hand, if that means Biden has successfully actually done something the NRA doesn't like, then you'd be wrong. All talk, no action.

In 1993, President-elect Biden (then a Delaware senator) was a key actor in the passing of the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, which established our existing background check system.

He voted on it. How hard was that? He had no substantial role in writing the bill (it was written in the House), or in committee talks before the floor vote. Biden is a Senator Do-Little.

Then, the following year, he also helped enact legislation that restricted the sales of guns like the AK-47 rifle for 10 years.

Voting isn't much of a help...

The incoming Biden-Harris Administration will hold gun manufacturers accountable for all deaths and injuries that result from use of their deadly products

The incoming Biden-Harris Administration will enact universal background checks much more stringent than those currently in place

The incoming Biden-Harris Administration will ban the manufacture and sale of semiautomatic weapons and high-capacity magazines

The incoming Biden-Harris Administration will prohibit those accused of domestic violence from owning or buying guns

The incoming Biden-Harris Administration will reverse Trump’s “fugitive from justice” loophole

Good luck changing the whole of civil law regarding liability...

The incoming Biden-Harris Administration will enact universal background checks much more stringent than those currently in place

Not without legislation from Congress they won't...

The incoming Biden-Harris Administration will ban the manufacture and sale of semiautomatic weapons and high-capacity magazines

Like that worked the last time it was tried... Besides, today you can make high-capacity magazines using a 3D printer if you want.

The incoming Biden-Harris Administration will prohibit those accused of domestic violence from owning or buying guns

That's already been legislated idiot.

The incoming Biden-Harris Administration will reverse Trump’s “fugitive from justice” loophole

A so-called loophole that doesn't really exist? Okay.

But, given Biden's track record on getting things done--remember when he was the point man on Obama's gun control effort and did nothing?--we really don't have anything to worry about. He'll get nothing done. Besides, he'll be too busy making quid pro quo deals in places like China and Ukraine with quasi-criminals to line his pockets with cash using his idiot son Hunter as bagman...

Yep, it’s moot. The founders hated the notion of a standing army. They saw how it broke nations in Europe and led to almost constant war. Hence, the need for a militia until an army could be mustered, if necessary.

Well, now we have the biggest, baddest standing military in the world. That militia and the need for the requisite arms is outdated.

the funniest thing about this post is how monumentally moronic you just looked. talk about looking like the stupidest motherfucker on the forum LOL
