I just found out my Eye Doctor is a MAGA moron. What do I do now?

He's going off on all these conspiracy theories about the 2020 election being stolen and the generals have all the evidence and they're going to expose it before the election and I'm thinking "How do I get out of here?". As I'm leaving, he says we should do lunch sometime and he'll explain everything to me. I'm thinking "Sure, after I find another eye doctor".
It was so bizarre. My respect for him plummeted. I've been going to this doctor for 27 years. He saved the vision in my right eye when I had a giant retinal tear. I can understand the weak-minded falling for Trump and the right wing bullshit but this guy has a medical degree and had been practicing medicine for over 30 years. Very disappointing.
I've lost all respect and trust in him as a medical professional.

Am I overreacting?

It's possible he doesn't give a shit. To me, it seems more likely he's gone full "Lindell" and just can't help himself.

It's hard to pull back from the abyss.

My mom, now retired, went full MAGA crazy after the 2020 election to the point that she actually started volunteering at election polling locations (we live in AZ). This year, she's actually working (getting paid) there. Now that she's been exposed to the realities; of how much security there is in elections, she mostly put her tin foil hat away. Now all she generally says is that she's no longer mailing her ballot. She's physically taking it in. That may change in the next few months. Her and her even more "Lindell" brother watch Fox News all day. I'm certain Fox will ramp up the election insanity again, soon.

That's really interesting, as well as sad. Your mom is a good example of how, when exposed to reality and to facts, cultist thinking can at least be curbed, if not cured. The Fox thing is troubling though. Has she always been an (R) voter? Conservative? Easily swayed by colorful rhetoric?

He's not going to lose any valuable and grateful patients...If you're so upset by his remarks, just drop by, tell him why you're leaving, and change doctors...Why the drama here,, when he can't defend what he may not have said?
