Should Trump pardon the January 6 thugs?

Anyone who believes Donald the Flip-Flopper is a fucking moron. He threw the Insurrectionists under the bus within a week of the Insurrection then refused to pardon them, even the peaceful ones like “praying lady”. Now he promises to pardon them and calls them hostages.

He can’t be trusted.

The talk that was reported out of the Trump camp was that he was ready and was going to pardon them all.

Then his lawyers warned him, if he did, they could all be forced to testify in any proceedings they were called to. They would no longer have 5th protections.

and while they might feel gratitude for the Pardon, most people having just escaped prosecution, via the pardon, are not going to lie and put themselves back in legal jeopardy. Most would just tell the truth, to move on with their lives, especially as it looked like Trump was going down, immediate after the insurrection.

So Trump made a call on no pardons, and they would go to jail, in the hopes he would not have to.

That’s a good point, apparently, they couldn’t afford the sticker price of a Trump pardon.

That still works even if Trump is elected and actually pardons them. The fun will be to see if there’s a smoking gun between the WH and the militias.

Traitor Trump does love his graft.

The thing to remember about pardons is that it’s an admission of guilt. As already pointed out, they’d have to testify in court or face the consequences. Trump was warned by advisors that if he pardoned himself then it was an admission of guilt. He’d be a loser. LOL

When Trump got into office he spent a lot of time talking about pardoning powers and trying to see what he could get away with. He was fascinated by the power and if it applied to him. He had lawyers investigating it thoroughly. I remember no president who ever spent a second on that power. Nor was there one who needed to.
