Florida snatches parental authority!

the same ones that decide what constitutes child abuse..........

I don't think the voters really decide what is or isn't child abuse. I don't think voters couldn't vote to make child abuse legal. If they could, I'd hope that none would. If they did, it would likely be a clear violation of the child's Constitutional rights.

they do in roundabout way. this was not decided by the governor either, he signed the bill voted on by the legislature

also - through jury nullification, voters decide more than you realize

I modified by post, so you didn't see it but, even if the voters voted to legalize child abuse, it would be found to be unconstitutional.

Descant is signed a new law in Florida making it illegal for children under 14 to have social media accounts, EVEN IF THEY HAVE PARENTAL PERMISSION!

This one has me on the fence. On one hand, I'm uncomfortable with anything that resembles limiting freedom of speech. On the other hand, social media can to real emotional harm to young kids.

Ratings still allow a kid to go if their parents go with them.

I do not believe in government snatching parental authority.

The Florida law DeSatan signed allows kids to have social media accounts with parental authority as well.

you are speaking gibberish

nobody would call it child abuse in the legislation. like legislation allowing chemical castration - they don't refer to that form of child abuse as child abuse in the legislation

you talk in circles. a total waste of time

Yeah, I disagree with a law that does not allow parents to allow their children to do something that DeSantis doesn't want them to allow. I'm not sure it is even constitutional, I'd have to read the Florida Constitution to figure it out... I see nothing that gives the government this kind of power over family matters in the US Constitution, that's for sure. I also believe that 14 year old kids also have a First Amendment right that shall not be infringed like this. I don't think he'll be able to prove that the State's interest overrides their parent's interest should they want to allow it.

so you have a monopoly power on what is and is not child abuse?

bwahaha. still the same dipshit with a 2 cent brain

You are such a stupid shitstain that you do not see you are the one claiming the monopoly poweron what is and is not child abuse.

Again Social Media IS NOT child abuse any more than video games are. Parents can allow children to abuse those things, amongst many others in a way that constitutes abuse, but the THING which is 'video games' or 'social media' or 'other' is NOT the abuse.

I know some parents who allow very minimal internet use and social media posting to their kids at certain ages and others who impose no limits.

The first is not abusing by allowing minimal internet and social media use, and a good parent should have that right to determine that without you magats desired big gov't in their home.

If there were no social media options for anyone under 18 it would be the best thing ever...there are few benefits...Want kids to interact with others who have similar hobbies or experiences or concerns? Then create more real life opportunities for them to do so...
They'll be happier when they're not hiding behind a phone or computer...

My take as well. I expect it will end up in the courts, which will agree.

Like you do, every single day? Funny how you Reichtards think it's just fine for kids under age 16 to have jobs, but they can't be trusted to use electronic devices to communicate. It's also interesting that you think parents have the authority to choose what movies/TV their kids watch, what books they read, what foods to choose from, etc. but the same parents can't be trusted to supervise their kids' online activity.

Computer screen and electronic device free zones... Kids would be so much happier and better off overall...
