Officers have a pretty broad palette to play with there. Some rules are being put in place across the US to limit what counts as a condition for which they can stop you, but I think that's probably the "weakest" protection the average citizen has.

Actually it's why the Dems lost because the folks who voted for Trump in large part care ONLY about immigration. They were sold a bill of goods about how horrible our country is currently (in part due to their favorite scapegoat) and they bought it hook line and sinker to the point that they were willing to vote for a CONVICTED FELON and sex predator who has a long history of failure and mendacity to fix a problem they were more terrified of.

Yes. To operate a motor vehicle requires you demonstrate proficiency and have responsiblity if you get into an accident (insurance). The state requires insurance and registration of vehicles. They can do that.

If you don't have a license, won't cooperate with the law enforcement officer stopping you for a traffic offense, don't have registration or insurance, the officer can arrest you, and the harder you fight that, the worse it gets for you.

A Real ID isn't necessary for operation of the vehicle, but it is proof of legal residence, if not citizenship. Lack thereof can be grounds for a more thorough background check into immigration status.

So, we are only going to deport those who drive and are pulled over?

How are they going to do this more thorough background check into immigration status on the side of the road?

and to work in this country - we can demand you have ID, right?

same with any place that cashes checks.

it will be very very easy to make living here illegally not worth it. As easy as releasing the Epstein list.....yet here we are waiting......
