I was in SAC...during the 50's.
Tough outfit...but I was in personnel...so I always had a safe, cushiony job.

In the 60's I believe SAC went to a 5 min alert system. Instead of flying armed B52's sat on alert and had to be airborne in 5 min or less when the horn went off. I could be wrong but I believe I'm correct.
