Concart, above, describes the typical Incel quite well. They are disliked by women not because they are single and don't have a gf, but because their angry, condescending, hostile personalities repel them. As Concart points out, sometimes angry, hostile men act out violently.

I am 71, closer to the beginning of the Baby Boom than to the end of it.

Concart, and you, are simply wrong. Incels do not exist because they've always hated women. IN FACT, i've seen many more of the 'asshole' men get the hot women because most modern women are toxic and want that drama.

Incels exist because most modern women do not live in reality and ignore most men that do not fit in to their standards, or check their boxes. It is because of this environment that most incels are bitter and resentful.
 
What's needed is legalized commercial sex everywhere.

Women who are hypercritical of potential dating partners
will suddenly become less choosy if they're not needed due to professional escorts.

Also, men will learn to be less hyper-libidinous if they're paying serious money for their dates.
Overall, however, it's a win-win because it essentially gives women more legitimate employment opportunities,
and everybody can have sex when they can afford it.

All of this seems so foreign to my generation, however.
The 1960s and 1970s were the sexual revolution. Everybody was getting laid.
Leave it to the post boomer generations to fuck up fucking.

I honestly don't know what's the matter with these people.

yes, modern women ignore most men. the social media era has deluded most modern women in to believing that they deserve a 9 or a 10 calber man, so anything less than an 8 are ignored. Most women ARE inferior to men, but you're also a deluded moron so you're unable to fathom that reality.

I also wanted to note that i'm not holding men blameless. of those 1/3rd that are 'incels', at least half of those are there because they are defective in some way. If you, too, are simply looking for hookups, then you deserve what you get. If you are looking for a soulmate, you're unlikely to find her on Tinder.

I don't do dating apps. I'm also married, but if I were single, I still wouldn't do dating apps. Instagram has also become a dating app, for the top 15% of men it works.
