To me, the ignore feature is not enough.

Racists, liars, trolls, and bigots need to be socially shunned and excluded from civilized discourse.

There should be no safe harbor for racists and dunces of dubious moral character.

That is exactly why I have an extensive thread ban listed capturing all known racists, bigots, belligerent dunces, trolls, liars and libelers. I am just doing my duty to humanity to exclude subhumans from civilized conversation.

I totally agree. I have no problem discussing any subject in great depth as long as it doesn't get personal. There is simply no reason to talk about who is doing the discussing. Especially when it goes to the gutter and people who cannot give good reasons for why they believe what they do attempt to discredit others instead of their argument. It's like: What do you oppose? The message or the messenger?

I like JPP because it is not commercial. Nobody is trying to sell you something or gather your data and sell marketing lists. There are no ads. I have zero problem participating and adding my views to the discussions.

But the nature of online discussion forums is that anti-social people who have no real life are drawn to this medium. If nobody wants to talk to them in real life, they can always get attention here. So we have proportionally more of that personality type here. I see no reason to reinforce their need for attention in an abuser/enabler relationship. That's simply not what I come here for. I just plain want to talk about politics.

I've given both of them crap. Guno, for when he goes a bit far in attacks on Christians, and telling TTQ to not lump all white people together. The big thing is though, people are often mistaking simple spite for racism. I feel the same way they do, and I'm white. I'm pretty sure you'd have the same spite if a guy felt the need to mansplain something to you. It wouldn't be because he's a guy, it would be because he's a jackass. I have never gotten the slightest sense from her that she considers me inferior to her based on my race.

And, when you really think about it, it is preposterous we are even having this conversation. Because a standard tactic of the rightwing it to attempt to float false analogies and false equivalencies.

I've noticed as well that the only ppl here who call BAC and others racist are the exact same ppl who themselves are racists, and have been named as such by BAC et al. The person to whom you responded is a case in point. I put that one on ignore almost out of the starting gate due to the filth and hate that spews from its keyboard.

The pattern is not exactly hard to see, is it.

My rule of thumb is that when ever a gaggle of righwing girlish gossipers make a scurrilous claim about a lefty poster - I assume the exact opposite of what they claim is actually true.

Again, we are all free to be or not to be offended by what people say. But the holier than thou attitude over being against bigotry and hate while supporting her is transparent. Call it what it is, political tribalism.

I have posted with BAC for years on other boards before he ever came here. He always pushed the race aspect, was a race hustler, very bitter and blameful of white people. It is what it is. I have gotten along with him at times but he was always the first to jump on the race bandwagon. News flash, plenty of blacks are racist too.

Whenever I see a poster use the term "race hustler" it sets off my spidey senses because most of those who use it tend to be bigots.

That's mostly true. Several people who used to post here have died; sometimes Damo let us know and sometimes the poster's friends did. Names I recall are Liz Gordon, Nurcats, Beefy, Dixie, Apple. There are probably others.

I see that but I also believe she uses it to refer on the whole to institutional racism, and IMO she's not wrong. You only have to read the history of the country... the real version, not the sanitized one.

I grew up with and went to school with smart black people. Black people can say more than “racist white man” to every single topic no matter what it is. This is a perfect example of “white liberal syndrome” where white liberals expect so little of blacks that folks accept her behavior and ignorance instead of calling it out. Folks have no problem (rightfully) calling out white people for their ignorance but she’s given a pass for being black. Ignorance and bigotry come in all races and ethnicities and no favors are done excusing it because of ones race

I get it. I can't see their garbage unless someone quotes them...and even then I just scroll past. The age old dilemma is weighing moderation against free speech.

I don't have a problem with getting rid of people who are disgusting racists/misogynists. There are plenty of boards for them to frequent
