Putin doesnt have "expansionist dreams"
going into Ukraine is his border war, and that's because the west made Ukraine an existential threat

It doesnt translate to going after NATO - but yes NATO expansion by it's very definition is a threat to Russia

If he went after Donbas maybe but he went after Kyiv. And Ukraine wasn't part of NATO. Finland also is on the Russian border the last time I checked. Putin's action has forced Finland into NATO's arms.

Finland had years of the same situation It had it's own defense. Tying it to NATO turns it into an existential threat idf there is any cross border movements
Kyiv is still part of Ukraine - that's not a NATO concern until we made Ukraine into a proxy war against Russia

The Russian bear would still be hungry after snacking on Ukraine if the West had not helped Ukraine. The Baltic states would be next.

Some accounts show that they're afraid to give him bad news for fear of poisoning, prison, or both. Not sure how they do things in Putin's Russia, but normally generals and strategists craft military actions. I'm thinking those groups were afraid to question Putin's desire to plod forward in a way that they knew would not work?

He promised we'd be out of Afg. by May '21. Biden withdrew after that date, but the terms of trump's surrender only protected our troops from Taliban attacks until May.

Do you believe we should still be there, and if so why?
