Isn't that sad? When the issue was being nationally debated some years back, she insisted that even if it became law, that gay ppl must not be allowed to call their unions "marriages," and suggested that they could only use the made-up word "pairrage." Allowing them to call it by its rightful name would denigrate her own nonexistent, imaginary, never-happened-and-never-will marriage.

There really are not American bases in the Middle East to attack, so virtually none. Every now and then there is gunfire within a mile or two of an American embassy, it is the Middle East, but hardly anything.
No one has wanted to attack the USA lately. The major breaking of the peace lately has been Hamas' attack on Israel, and Hamas has tried its best to avoid attacking the USA in that. American sailors are helping Israel, without being a target.

I'm thrilled with higher interest rates. I have clear title on two properties, and 3 vehicles.
My cash that is just sitting around is earning 5 1/2% as I watch the scam of a market work it's fraud.
I watch dozens of stocks, and if any hit a level that I'm comfortable with, I'll buy. In the meantime I'm buying 2-6 month CDs and Treasuries. The latter being a patriotic thing to do.

It is. Most of them believe that just declaring that something is true makes it so. The reason why Toxic, for example, won't respond with any sources or credible evidence for her claims is that she knows there are none. Everything she believes comes from far RW media which, if she posted them, would quickly be debunked with real information. So we're supposed to believe that "the country is falling apart" under Biden because she stomped her dainty size 12s and said so. The fact that she uses a Goebbels quote for a sig line tells us all we need to know about the veracity of her claims.

Very smart! Our pensions and social security checks go directly into our checking account. Since we have no debt other than monthly utility stuff, it piles up quickly. Mr. Owl is taking out thousands every so often and parking that in T-bills. He said they're earning a bit over 5% now!

As may or my not be normal for business school graduates,
I loathe every aspect of finance.
Even talking about money in general makes me uncomfortable.
It feels tacky in some way.
I love spending money as much as I hated earning it,
and even inheriting a little of it seemed like a chore.
Thinking about it, though, is like putting out cigarettes on one's own temples.
The guy who takes care of our stuff has to call us if he thinks that we need to talk.
I don't even have him on speed dial.
His office doesn't offer Chinese takeout, after all.

Yup. And buying CDs online at a site like Vanguard offers much better yields than local banks. When rates were still going up, I only bought short term Treasuries and CDs. Now I might think longer range, or look into bonds.
It is good for our society to allow them to marry.
