Interesting and thanks for the link.

"The 45 sex offenders who reported a low level of religious affiliation as a child and adult ("atheists") composed the highest percentage of offenders with a nonsexual offending history; however, regardless of patterns of religious affiliation, all of the sex offenders had histories of nonsexual offense convictions. This finding is consistent with a growing body of evidence that many sex offenders are also involved in general criminal activity. The findings are discussed in terms of social-control and situational theories of crime. "

Why do you think the study's results came out as they did?

have you controlled for catholic church pedophilia? catholic church is a worldy luciferian organization, operationally.

It's a small-sample study, no controls. 45 subjects is not valid, esp. given that most (73% according to fairly-recent surveys of Americans) claim to be of the Xtian faith.

In the end people are either ethical or not.

Some try to use their alleged religious faith(s) to convince members of their community that they are ethical, trustworthy... often unconsciously.

The general population is slightly more likely to be pedophiles than the Catholic clergy population.

lol.

maybe, but they're not part of an organization that systematically sweeps it under the rug, covers for them, pays for their legal defense, and sends them on to a new parish to abuse.

and their victims become abusers, in the general population.

hurt people, hurt people.

"Ethics" is a fluid term if there is no absolute measure of it. :)

From a scientific POV there are actions and behaviors that are conducive to survival of the species and, therefore, preferable such as "Mother instinct", survival instinct, herd/community instinct. Any behavior that put the group at risk would be undesirable since, over time, it would destroy the group. Mass murder within the community would put then entire community at risk of losing to stronger outside forces. Aside from those things, which can be fluid themselves, nothing is "sacred". :D

Using the "Ten Percent Rule", ten percent of the population are assholes in varying degrees and, no doubt, some of those assholes betray their office, duties or the trust of others.

Like rebelling against briefly having to wear a mask when out in public? Refusing to do anything about psychos with guns because you're in love with your own?

Failing to work with a community to stop a pandemic or stop murderers would be against the best interests of the community. There's those where communities have a strong social bond with each other and there's where a dictatorial group or person decides what is best for the community including having the power of banishment and/or execution to enforce those judgements.

Which community would you prefer to live?

How about this for Christmas?

Jews are way worse.

Look at the Rabbi Weberman case.
