What causes you to believe that the 4th amendment is exclusive to taxes Nordi buddy? Actually friend, the 4th amendment applies to human bodies, Houses/Homes, personal effects, and ALL PAPERS. It covers everything “personal.” It’s called “PRIVATE PROPERTY.” It’s what y’all democrats claimed as the woman’s privacy to legalize abortions, it’s constitutionally protected everything personal.
If that’s actually the congressionally written law and if it requires NO probable cause, it’s not a constitutional law and it will likely be shot down by the Republican dominated Supreme Court.
Then let them find probable cause and get a warrant as the Constitution requires. They’re no better than any other law enforcement outfit, that’s EVERYBODY’S requirement!

The real truth is the Repubs and Dems agree that Trump is a crook. The Repubs are trying to find ways for him to escape consequences and get another term of chaos. As usual, they are grasping at straws to defend him. The cold hard fact is the house can demand his tax returns from the IRS. The IRS has to provide them.
If the right really believed he was innocent they would be happy that the house is providing an opportunity to prove it to all. We all know this years and last years taxes are not under audit. I suspect the reds know as well as we do that Trumps' taxes are not under audit. Trumpy could just wave the audit letter from the IRS in the faces of all the reporters in sight. That would be a great win. Must be some reason he does not do it.

I agree the 16th amendment was required to have a tax structure like we have now based on income not apportioned among the states based on population. But I disagree with your statement that the Constitution was silent on taxes or that we had no federal taxes until 1913.
Being able to tax citizens directly was one of the main reasons for the constitutional convention to replace the Articles with a stronger central government able to tax directly, raise an army, regulate interstate commerce, and coin money.

This is not about Congress at this point. It is about the powers specifically granted to Ways and Means. The chair Of W & M can ask for anyone 's tax returns and the IRS shall furnish them.

Wouldn't powers granted to the chair of W & M come under the powers granted by Congress?
The IRS cannot get probable cause to investigate tax fraud unless they first have access to a person's tax returns. That comes from congressional statutes requiring people to submit that return to the IRS. They don't need probable cause to receive and review that return. If Congress can require Americans to submit their tax return to the IRS, why can't they also require a submission to Congress?
